With all due respect, how is any of this a revelation to you? What do you think the term "poor white trash" means?

It's not a revelation to me. I just wanted to get everyone's thoughts. I've met many white people like him who have the same "woe is my wasted whiteness" attitude.

He has a point. Poor whites dont exist in political or social discussion. When was the last time you've seen policy specifically address the issue of white poverty? They are the majority of the poor in the US, notwithstanding ADOS disproportionate representation at the bottom.

Whiteness still trumps solidarity with non white "others" though, which accounts for why socialist reforms never really took off in America and the ones currently in place are quickly eroding. White people cutting nose to spite their face. Its the reason for the dramatic reduction in white males life expectancy in the last decade. Racism hurts everyone.

Poor whites get all of the benefits poor blacks get plus more...local charities cater to poor whites, as do fundraisers and food drives. Not to mention just being white can change your life in America, especially when it comes to jobs

Long story short, the quote in the title is from a CAC who used to live in the same apartment as me years and years ago. We talk now and again, usually discussing race.

His story:
Comes from a family of geniuses. Both of his parents work in biomedical science. He's the middle child.

His older brother graduated from Oxford. His younger sister graduated from Princeton.

He was meant to go to an MIT school but he got addicted to meth ......

That's the impetus for ALL his problems. EVERY, LAST, ONE. He's just mad his well to do folk didn't coddle and enable him like Biden does his glass dikk sucking son and kept him in the life and now he lamenting to you about it. He still got the complexion for the protection and a whole race along with the cops who'd quicker take his side in an effort to "Understand" him rather than just file him off as a danger/threat to society and look to do away with him.

In my experience, whites will only see themselves as white in a setting where they are the numerical minority. Otherwise, they see themselves as normal and it's the others who have labels...Black,Hispanic,Indian,Asian

This country and the economy used to be set up to favor white males, at every income, education, and self motivation level. ...even the bottom feeders.

When the Civil rights bills started getting passed that banned discrimination and opened up the doors to white women, Black people, and others........it was the bottom feeder white men that the system no longer protected. They coudn't compete againt the motivated achievers of other groups who were able to get their foot in the door.

Without the economy protecting them, the personal shortcomings that made them bottom feeders caught up to them...not placing value on education, not being motivated, drug use,etc. They used to be "working class" or working poor. Economy has no use for them now and they serve no function..

The analogy I always use is that they were zoo animals. Fed and protected, put them in the wild where they have to fend for themselves, and they wouldn't make it.

I found that i need to specify when i discuss white people and racism with my kids now ,cuz its just as many if not..more poor white people here in my town.

I remember when I first spoke to him. I was scratching my head because he was clearly well educated. We were talking about ancient african civilizations, jazz, blues, literature, physics, philosophy etc,. And here he was working a retail job in a rough area.

The only reason I lived there was because I was broke straight out of college and I wanted to live by myself. My parents were happy to put me up but I wanted to keep that independence college gave me.

When I asked him his story, he said he came from an affluent background but taking meth burned all his bridges with his family. It just seems like he got in with the wrong crowd and fukked up his life. If he had gone to college and graduated he could've easily been making six figures in no time.

But these are the choices we make in life.
