If you're OK with the Kinect "always on" feature, you're nuts

Once again. It has security controls that allow you to turn off the features you don't want to use.

If you can "read between the lines" for the Xbox then why aren't you doing the same for your smartphone? It has all the same capabilities yet you willingly share your entire life with it. Why do you feel comfortable doing it with your phone but not a gaming system?

aaand once again, apple has some scary patents coming down the road. which is why i'm ditching the iphone when my contract is up. however, i understand cellphone convos can be recorded by the gov, but they're not trying to sell me something along with it. if the gov used my camera, 9/10 they'll be looking at the inside of my pocket.

how do you compare that to what kinect 2.0 is offering? one is the government the other is M$ trying to sell you shyt, how is it the same? either explain to me what my cellphone is trying to sell me or stop coming at me on some "white women do it too" shyt

I'm not "justifying" anything. I'm just saying if you have a problem with the camera and mic on the X1 you should have a problem with the countless cameras and mics you willingly carry around and interact with all day.

completely different..the phone dont have a camera that sits in your living room overlooking everything you doing. the phone cant see in the dark and detect how many people in the room, heat signatures, heart rates, and eyes...the kinect even knows if you watching or not because it pause the movie when you leave the room.

None of that stuff is needed to invade your privacy. A phone sits with you all day with a mic and a camera connected to the Internet, and a GPS tracker. If someone wanted to invade your privacy they are already doing it. This is just phony outrage created on the Internet. Microsoft stands to gain more by following the law and selling a bunch of product, than they do by watching you in your jammys.

Microsoft hasn't openly stated any of the claims in this thread. What they have said is that the camera will only be listening for the words. Xbox on. And they also said there will be security options to turn off the features that you don't want to use.

If anyone is worried about the kinect they can turn off the mic and/or the camera or they can just not buy it. But the phony outrage about these features that can be found on almost any other modern computing device,(including the ps4 you spend your days stanning) is laughable.
