the kinect cannot be disabled if you want to use your xbox. also, you sound real nutty comparing it to cell phones. our cellphones aint propped up, facing us on some "always watching and listening to you" type shyt. whatever i say or do on the phone wont be used to sell me shyt, at least not yet.
- xbox one will record all sounds in your home even while switched off
- kinect will use it's camera to record you while playing video games and forcibly pause the game when it cannot detect you
- xbox one will send the data to microsoft where they may share it with third parties
- xbox one requires you to connect to the internet and submit the recorded data atleast once every 24 hours or you will be unable to play your games
- microsoft has already agreed to send the collected data to the government when they request it
this is not tinfoil hat shyt, this is the future of gaming according to microsoft.

no, it doens't record unplugged. it records when your xbox is off.

Microsoft hasn't openly stated any of the claims in this thread. What they have said is that the camera will only be listening for the words. Xbox on. And they also said there will be security options to turn off the features that you don't want to use.

did this disprove anything? the kinects always on and you wont be able to use your xbox with it disabled. it's recording info but it "stays with you", what does that even mean? why is this blackbox gathering information in the first place if it stays on the box? read between the lines, one user agreement later and M$ will be using this gathered information to ship off to marketing.
Once again. It has security controls that allow you to turn off the features you don't want to use.
If you can "read between the lines" for the Xbox then why aren't you doing the same for your smartphone? It has all the same capabilities yet you willingly share your entire life with it. Why do you feel comfortable doing it with your phone but not a gaming system?
