If it was so worthless, there wouldn't be countless state legislatures across the country doing their best to disenfranchise the Black, Latino, and Asian vote. You wouldn't have gerrymandered districts that limit accurate representation. You wouldn't have PACs pouring in millions of dollars in an attempt to prevent certain ballot measures from passing.

During the initial stages of when names start to go on the ballot for the primaries we are nowhere to be found. There are many candidates out there who run, including from our own community who agree with us on policy, and actually have a solid chance of winning in primaries(this is especially true in local elections) but we would never know because we are so disengaged from the whole process. We let whites pick the candidates for the general and than wonder why neither candidate represent our views.

We only care about who the president is and some ballot propositions. Maybe a mayor here and there. The functions of the Senate, house and congress are lost on black people and most americans but the ones that do know only need empty rhetoric, preferably using race code words to mobilize their base to vote accordingly.
