:yeshrug: to each his own. I just think this obsession is hella weird. They be arguing and attacking women who are already natural (telling natural women to admit that we hate our hair). If that doesn't show you that some of them have serious mental issues then idk.
do u prefer BW wearing weave or natural?

Honestly, I don't really care about weave (since natural means you aren't chemically straightened, you can wear weave and still be natural). I prefer if black women as a whole stopped chemically straightening our hair, but weave, I don't care (I mean...you're talking to someone who used weave to transition to natural and avoid cutting my hair into a tiny weenie afro). Not everyone wears weave for the same reasons nor do all weaves look the same. For women who wear weave because they hate their hair, I honestly do hope they get over their issues. Outside of those women, I have no preference for how other women style their hair (I just want people to look good and feel good). I mean, I plan to do my hair like this over the weekend:

This style won't make me somehow unnatural just because I added some marley braid hair. You have to understand something about me. I'm not the the type of person who tries to police other people or impose my views on them. I lead by example. When people want information, I share and let them know it's doable. I try to give encouragement and information when it's sought, but at the end of the day I live and let live.

As a lacefront wearer, I wear it because I like them and I don't have to sit in a salon for 8 hours for a weave I'd have to go back to just wash it every two weeks :manny: I can now just throw it off and wash my hair with no problems. I always mention that to guys I start to see or talking to that I wear one and none have a problem with it (maybe it's where I am) so that's how I'll proceed in the future. I don't see it as self-hate, it's something different. I wear it and you can deal, cool. If not, it's okay..you were probably not my type anyways. :yeshrug: We weren't born with clothes, does that mean we should abandon all clothes and everything will go back to nude? Probably not. I'm indifferent about it and I don't really care if another woman has a weave in or not, if she likes it and happy, that's her. Jesus. :shaq2:

Berating the women doesn't change things when women tend to try to base how they appear from the responses of the opposite sex...it would be more beneficial to talk to the men also, and educate them on how our natural texture is beautiful and how they should encourage their mothers, sisters, aunts, and daughters to love their hair and themselves....understand that women are more easily influenced at a young age to imitate what other girls do and appear to gain that attention from the boys....I'm not saying to just default your blame on men, but show that they have some what to blame along with the women....and that is what I believe @Kind Gentleman is trying to say

If all women went natural then they would be complaining about why all these "bytches" got these short afros like dudes (read Marcuz). They would still find something to complain about. This is not about hair. This about disdain.

wouldn't this still be a valid complaint :dahell:

i couldn't disagree with you more on this. they aren't doing this for the opposite sex. they're doing it because of laziness and lack of knowledge. like that picture of the little girl i posted earlier, she'll be saying the same shyt you said 20 yrs from now. "i wear these weave cus of youuuu, black men hate our hairrrrr, y'all so self hatingggggg"

this is a job that needs to be started in the home though. it's not us miseducating the men, it's boys being raised around nothing but hair hats all their life.

"understand that women are more easily influenced at a young age to imitate what other girls do "

which goes back to what somebody said, women are NOT wearing weaves because of black men, they're doing it to fit in with other women. also, i don't even believe that. i think both genders are equally impressionable.

and i really don't know what blame to place on black men, cus really, we have nothing to do with this besides the fact we're enabling y'all by not demanding it stop.

I'm not sure if you understand the process of going natural, but it requires that you cut off your relaxed hair. Most women will start off with low cuts or low afros if they transition for a while, but the hair has to be cut to go natural.
:dead: well im sorry, i can't respect these women who've been on earth 20, 30, even 40 yrs with dyed mini fros, talkin bout "i just went natural
LAKnmvR.png
" get the entire fucccck outta here

edit: real talk though, i've seen women do this offline and i swear they all went back to perms soon as their hair started napping up the way it should. so i know all that talking kindly, being very respectful of it, it's not going to change a goddamn thing

:comeon: agree that what I said is another reason why some women choose to wear weave...the problem with your thinking is that you believe every woman wears one for the same exact reason...when there are NUMEROUS reasons

this is a job that needs to be started in the home though. it's not us miseducating the men, it's boys being raised around nothing but hair hats all their life.

Who else is in the home? Who else is a little girls first view and send of a male come from? The father....males are suppose to lead am I right...why are they exempt from allowing the women to follow an incorrect path

"understand that women are more easily influenced at a young age to imitate what other girls do "

:dead: this exact paragraph is what I was trying to get out of you....thank you

most men aren't going to reject a woman because of hair, period. which is what a lot of guys are trying to stress to women. you're not going to find many guys that'll say "oh, you wear a weave? :scusthov: good day" but they'll definitely take note of it, and it could damage long term potential. as for the bolded, jesus christ. lol. really
