i think it has something to do with incest...

one reason that brothers and sisters never become sexually attracted to each other is because they grow up together. thats important, genetically speaking, because if brothers and sisters did have sex with each other they would create genetically defective inbreed children. so evolution had to have a way to stop them from having kids together, or at least, stop them from entertaining the thought of having sex with each other.

BUT if they never knew their brother or sister growing up, then theoretically, they COULD have sex with that person, or at least, entertain the thought of sex with them. it wouldnt even really be their fault, because they just wouldnt know any better to know the difference.

therefore in marriages after spending many years with the same person i think people can start to experience that brother/sister effect. it kicks in after prolonged exposure to the same person in the same way that brothers and sisters growing up fail to ever become sexually attracted to each other after that same kind of prolonged exposure. after a while, this effect kicks in and sex with the same person can start to feel like incest.

by that i mean try to imagine kissing someone in your family on the lips... if youre normal, you cant do it. it feels too weird and forced. i think thats the same sensation a lot of people in these marriages feel after a while together

i dont think all marriages are like that tho. people who have more stuff going on in their lives can probably stay brand new enough to not fall into that trap. thats why its important to not get involved on a more serious level with someone who gets bored easily or doesnt have anything going on with themselves: they're more likely to get bored (that incest feeling) and then cheat out of necessity. you cant even really blame them because thats the only thing some people can do to feel any stimulation out of life
