Also this happens in baseball pretty frequently. Top tier prospects get traded by teams that are World Series contenders for extra pitching or whatever. Going for the title is probably always worth it.

We don't even know if Wiggins is going to be a star. The defense is there, but he was at the bottom of the league in offensive efficiency among players with similar usage. It's not like lack of defense is what killed the Cavs against GS.

Tristan was always in the long term plan. They tried to extend him last October. He still would have a cap hold and the Cavs wouldn't have renounced his bird rights.

I highly doubt they'd give up on Bennett after 2 years witnout getting something tangible back.

Minnesota can dump him and not blink an eye and say he made the salary equal to acquire Wiggins.
