Initially, CM Punk was halted by Cripple H and Nash....he was lingering all of 2012. Boring matches with Ziggler and Miz...a unproductive feud with Jericho and weird segments with Johnny L....being upstaged by AJ Lee outright...the Rock title aspiration is how he got here. He would of lost that belt months ago if not for that.

But that stuff didn't make any money. He didn't HAVE to win MITB..the promos was enough. It just threw a sprinkle of unpredictability in it when he did go over and the illusion of him leaving the company with the belt was pushed. Of course that was undone in under 3 weeks but that goes without saying.

If it wasn't for that #SummerofPunk 2011, there wouldn't be no Punk vs. Rock come Rumble either.

He's gonna headline NO MATTER WHAT This is a CM Punk thing..people are lauding his promo ability and acting like he's doing god level promo work with typical heel crying and a title reign counter meter as his basis for speaking. That's commendable apparently but not possible without the biggest star in wrestling history putting eyes on it.
