Y'all right, they're keeping Sterling Sharpe out the Hall of Fame because just like T.O he had a contentious relationship with the media.

Excellent points being made right here.

And nah, I'm here to talk about football (which you aren't), not get into a contest with anonymous posters on the net about who's more qualified than who to have this discussion (which you are).

:salute:
I edited my post @Field Marshall Bradley. I have zero interest in talking to folks who want to talk about anything but football, since you can't talk about what's going on between those lines when comparing Calvin Johnson to Sterling Sharpe. The talent is too visibly different. That's why Megatron was first ballot and Sharpe is still knocking on the door to get in. Enjoy your night.

i think one big problem for sterling is when he first was eligible ppl immediately disqualified him under that ridiculous notion that his career wasnt long enough. then the more time that passes i think less ppl put in their due diligence of analyzing his case. he clearly has a good case for why he should have been in a long time ago.

having said that i think theres only one point needed that i think will convince anyone and ive yet to see anyone counter it. he led the league in catches 3 times, in the past 50+ years noone else has done it more than twice. how can you not have someone in the hall of fame who led the league in a stat more times than anybody else in over half a century?

From The Westside With Love
Multiple defensive rules changes and léague shifting from RB dominant to WRs since Swann's era.

If DBs did today what they got away with in the 70s, they'd be arrested and booked.

I'm saying, even in Lynn Swanns time of prison ball... dude never cracked 1,000 yards, and only had 1 year were he was even top 5 in rec. yards

Production matters more than talent, though. Desean Jackson and Jamaal Charles were amazing talents, but they didnt do enough to be elected to the HOF. Peter Boulware and Bob Sanders were explosive talents, didnt do enough or last long enough to make it in. Having a shortened career where you were utterly dominant, should still get you in. Ie Sandy Koufax, Roger Staubach(was only undisputed starter for 9 years)

Above the fray.

5 individuals reach Finalist stage for Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025

12/3/2024

Blue-Ribbon Committees make selections in Coach, Contributor and Seniors categories. One big step remains in election process

Five individuals have reached the Finalist stage across three categories for possible election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025 presented by Visual Edge IT.

Moving within one step of inclusion in the next class of enshrinees are Ralph Hay (Contributor), Mike Holmgren (Coach), and Maxie Baughan, Sterling Sharpe and Jim Tyrer (Seniors). The remaining bar to clear: approval from at least 80% of the members of the full Selection Committee at their annual meeting next year in advance of the class unveiling during Super Bowl LIX week in New Orleans, La.

For the first time, the Finalists from these categories within the selection process are competing directly against each other under bylaws the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Board of Directors approved earlier this year. The revision to the process will help ensure the exclusivity of inclusion in the game’s most elite fraternity.

Each member of the Selection Committee may vote for only three of the five Finalists. With the bylaws revision, a maximum of three (3) of this year’s Finalists can be elected. If none of the five individuals receives 80% approval, then the one who receives the most support would be elected to the Class of 2025.
