If Terrell Davis is in the Hall of Fame, how is Sterling Sharpe not? /* SS is an HoF finalist

It really is pathetic that he's not in. I made a thread a few years ago about him being the biggest HOF snub, and it's still true.

Three time first-team all-pro.

Three time receptions leader.

Two time receiving touchdowns leader.

People think stat compiling players like Frank Gore should get in, yet a player that was actually a top three player at his position for years shouldn't. :hhh: .

I think this is it, tbh.

He didn't have many media friends. He was really good on TV, but ESPN and NFL TV both let him leave because they didn't really fukk with him.

Imma strongly push back against this. Without knowing the ins and outs, the Packers don't seem to be pushing that hard for Sharpe to get into the Hall. You all may know more, but there doesn't seem much of an effort.
Yeah, I'd say that the push to make Leroy Butler was much easier to maintain because 1) he had the resume 2) they egregiously let lynch in before him 3) he created the Lambeau leap so his name is attached to the Packers for life 4) he still works for the Packers organization as a media person

I think Favre's legacy weighs too heavily on those 90 teams, cause like I said, most ppl don't even know Favre didn't win the super bowl mvp. Everything post 92 is about Favre's rise. Everything before Favre is considered the dark years. Think back to all the docs you've seen of Favre joining the team. How many of them are framed as "HoF" Sterling getting help, as opposed to Favre "creating" the magic? I've seen this QB driven narrative with Favre, Rodgers, and now Love.

Willis had a short career, not a short prime.

5 AP1s and 7 Pro Bowls is a HOF linebacker.

I agree. I also think Luke Kuechly should be first-ballot when his time comes (he's a better comp for Willis).

I was talking in reference to Davis when mentioning Priest.

LIST ALL THE PLAYERS IN NFL HISTORY WITH

2 RINGS
2X OPOY
NFL MVP
SB MVP

ILL WAIT...

Football is a team sport...... He didn't win a ring by himself..... It's insulting..... We're gonna pretend that it wasn't like 4 other HOFers on those sqauds....... HOF should be reserved for those who sustained great play over significant time..... and on top of that, TD only had like 3 years of being a top dog, and even that is debatable because imo, Scary Barry and Ricky Waters were better than him in 1996......

I’d rather a guy like sterling who was dominant for 5 years get in the Hall over dudes who were merely good for 8-10 years but never elite.

I feel like peak should matter way more for HOF debates than it does tbh

He only has 3 to 4 years max at performing at an all time great level...... If you qualify for a HOF career, then should have been great for longer than 3 to 4 years

He did things in his first 4 years that a lot of better RBs didn't do in 10-12 seasons.

Not to mention, Davis is probably the greatest playoff RB on a per game basis in NFL history.

He should be in the Hall of Fame. As should Sterling Sharpe.

To me, HOF worth comes down to two things:

- Can you tell the story of the game without him?
- Was there a 3-5 year period (or longer) where the player in question had a legitimate case as the best in the league at his position?

Davis checks these boxes.

Thats not how HOF players are choosen :russ:
HoF players are chosen based on what they could do on that field. What Megatron could do on that field was a tier above Sharpe. Nobody will actually sit down and discuss that because it's very visible and we got film on YouTube and can break down what both were doing on that field.

I already know how these discussions go, rules, stats, era, etc all the excuses in the world but the tape don't lie fam and what we seen Johnson do is why he was first ballot. Period.

Thats still not how it works. U literally using stan talking points. What Sharpe did is HoF worthy easily.
