$100 billion over 10 years.
The gesture seems genuine, and I respect that, but
She compared Jews in the Holocaust receiving reparations from Germany for 12 years of human rights abuse at $90 billion, then she thinks 246 years of slavery, not even including Jim Crow era, is comparable in monetary restitution???
Nikka what???
Follow me here, if you want to use the the Holocaust as a determinant of reparations for U.S slavery;
- Holocaust 12 years, 1933 with opening of Dachau camps to surrender of Germany to Allies in 1945 = $90 billion
- American Slavery 246 years, 1619 Jamestown to end of Emancipation Proclamation/End of Civil War 1865 = X
A
simple ratio equation can be used, I think, if you want to use the Holocaust as an American slavery reparations determinant, so
.........12 years .... =
.... 246 years
$90,000,000,000
.............. .X
12X = $90,000,000,000(246)
X = $
22,140,000,000,000
............ 12
X =
$1,845,000,000,000 = $1.845 trillion is what American slavery reparations would need to look like to be equivalent to the WWII Jewish Holocaust.
Guess what I didn't even factor in inflation.
Jeff Bezos is worth a $150 billion, his ancestors didn't pick the first piece of cotton for free for 246 years.
I know I've seen a figure in trillions before, and I didn't even factor in inflation, it would probably be .
Apple and Amazon have reached some financial milestone that has a trillion dollars next to their respective companies' names.
So how about $2 trillion divided over 10 or 20 years if you really serious giving AAs a true opportunity for financial restitution. It would be a stimulus package to the AA community, but if we are not on Killa Mike's steeze, then money will just go to buy food and items from typical non-black owned businessess. Are we really rebuilding historical black communities or just giving money to a black person so they can go live out in some new suburb, or does it matter?
Then we have to figure who is on the board in charge of disbursing funds and how they anticipate on using these funds. Try and avoid conflicts of interest for such a large sum of money.
Are we gone to rebuild and enhance all 100 HBCUs, then put some funds in their endowments?
Probably the biggest question who are the true recipients of these funds if you talking on an individual level. Yall see how difficult it is to be considered a true Native American, you got to pull out receipts going back generations. Now with all these DNA companies, how will we determine whose ancestors were slaves in the U.S. or not?
I don't have the answers, but I do know a $100 billion is a comedy show.
