If OKC doesn’t make the finals, do you think they will get a pass from the media/fans?

Who picked the mavs? Who also next been tested
Opening is a montage of nba media members picking dallas. Also a reddit thread on regular people picking Dallas. This isnt to say BOS were underdogs, but they weren't given the respect tbey deserve after a historically dominant reg season. And Tatum and Brown have been tested in their careers WAAAAY more than Kyrie and Luka

I'm going on a limb I don't think there is one team in the NBA who can beat OKC in a 7 game series. I won't even be shocked if they go 4 4 4 in the west.
They literally have dudes on the bench who'd prob put up 15-20 on other team if they started.

Dort gets in foul trouble they can throw caruso at you

Lakers got 3/4 of the best players in the series when they face off :lolbron:

They've seemingly been untouchable during the regular season, but that's because they've been to thrive in being more physical on defense than the large majority of the league, along with Shai setting the tone of torturing teams on the other end by putting them in foul mitigation.

They've had historical results in a regular season setting, but I wouldn't automatically assume that'll happen all throughout the playoffs when that same physicality advantage won't be the same when the officials start calling it more evenly.

They're still a young team too, so we can't be neglectful of how much experience matters.

As everyone has stated, it depends on when, how and to whom they lose is the question. I think they have to at least reach the Finals, but if they reach the Finals and don't win, I would consider this season a failure. This team's window won't be open very long because the secret is out: OKC knows how to draft and develop at every level, so GM's are gonna pay big money to pry our bench and developmental players away. Also, the way the salary cap is set up, we won't be able to keep all of our players and draft picks, one of them has to go.

The reasons why OKC lost against Dallas last season:

1) Chet and J-Dub, moreso, disappeared offensively, putting more pressure for SGA to score.

2) SGA struggled because after Dallas took away the midrange game, he didn't have the 3 point shot in his bag.

3)The role players 3's stopped falling... and players like Dort, Giddey and Jay Will either couldn't hit or were reluctant to take midrange jumpers.

4) The stretch bigs made life in the paint and on the 3 point line difficult. No rebounding, Chet constantly getting his shyt tossed back... and PJ Washington shooting like Steph Curry.

This season, the players from last season's team have (hopefully) addressed those issues and the added pieces from the trade, new signing and draft should put OKC over the top.

They're prohibitive favorites in the West. They're gonna approach 70 wins, have the best record in the entire league and win the conference by at least 15 games.

I wouldn't pick Cleveland to beat Boston in a series but I think they're a better matchup against OKC.

I'm still a little dubious because I know they gameplan for every game during the regular season while most teams do not. I think their aggressive defense can be used against them and exploited by great passing teams.

Oh shít, 70 wins is still possible. I thought they had 14 losses. They only got 12. Only 3 games left to really worry about. 1 vs Rockets and 2 vs Lakers

It won't be easy. They have a game against Detroit who is dying for payback in a game they felt like was stolen from them by the refs.

And it will be hard to beat a playoff bound Lakers back to back.

Ok, and I’m telling you they’re still having one of the greatest regular seasons ever regardless of them splitting the season series with Denver or Minnesota
yes but you cherry icking stars they have 11 losses in the west / Lost a series to GS, Tied in series with Minny & Denver. They need to beat these teams ro take the west.
