I wouldn't call it a conspiracy, but it's no secret that the new CBA is designed to "reign in" big market teams and the Lakers were definitely in mind.

When you have other owners that have NOTHING to do with a trade writing emails to David Stern about the dealings of the Lakers, it stands to reason that many team owners go out of their way to fukk them over not necessarily on the court but in meeting rooms on some hoe shyt. All the while forcing the Lakers to supplement the incomes of teams that make consistently shytty decisions via the luxury tax.

The thing is, they still manage to get around all that shyt, regardless. It's beautiful. And that Time Warner broadcasting deal money kicks in this year too, so while the Lakers don't necessarily wanna pay out the ass every year, the amount of money they'll be bringing in before the first basketball even hits the hardwood means they can be like "fukk it, we'll spend" if they want to.

And should they actually manage to get Dwight too?

:smugdraper:

It's nothing more than a money grab. The big market teams still have all of the advantages and it will always be that way. Teams like the Lakers can have the highest payroll in the league, get raped on luxury taxes, and still turn a profit. The theories that David Stern wants to see the Lakers crumble are straight :duck:

It's also :duck: that Dan Gilbert's stupid letter meant anything. That trade sucked for the Hornets and they're much better off now. I thought they had already proven that the letter was sent after the "basketball reasons" quote, but it's BS regardless. If David Stern was going to flex his muscle for the Dan Gilberts of the world, he would have done it when Danny's franchise was walking away on national television.

if they played like...

1) they gave a damn
2) they had heart
3) killer instinct

yes i would

--

put kobes killer instinct into bynum and pau and no one would be tasting a championship until kobe retired or fell way the fukk off, thats what makes kobe so great, his drive / competitiveness, that's what made MJ the GOAT too

--

sadly tho in reality, pau plays hot potato with the ball and bynum readily admits he didn't come prepared for a playoff game, get these bums off my team

I hear all that, but to address the threadstarter, I'm not sure Dwight is an upgrade in the heart and killer instinct department either.

He'd put in paint work though

Lakers & Magic framework close to be being done according to sources who spoke briefly of the conversation

Mitch like :myman: He should be in the hall of fame as the GOAT GM. Year in and year out he's kept this team competitive for like a decade now, no?

ill give you this, howard has been very bytchmade in his tendencies lately

i just gotta think though if he came to LA, he'd love it (i mean hell who doesnt love LA? look what happened to LO when he left hah) and because he'd be in one of the biggest markets in the NBA he'd play his heart out

keep in mind, let's not kid ourselves IF kobe won another title i totally see him retiring, and if he doesn't, we got 2-3 years of him/nash on their A to B game, then it would be dwights squad, this would be 100% his team, that has a draw in and of itself

i used to like bynum, i thought he was immature and a bit quirky but i was like eh he's progressing, but then after last years playoffs and then THIS year was even worse, he just says stupid shyt, does stupid shyt and clearly shows he is too immature to ever be the face of our franchise or ever truly give a shyt at the levels we need our players to care
