:dame:

But what names am I supposed to be impressed by? Martinez who should've lost to Murray? Cotto who is undersized at 154? Canelo who had fought at 154 and below for most of his career?:comeon:

MW is barren, the man could've moved up but he was fine with feasting on the trash opposition. Canelo needed time to move up, and Golovkin obliged. This fight is a lot closer in people's eyes not because Golvkin slipped but because it finally looks like Canelo can properly fill out at MW.
My bad, I thought u guys were into big names.:mjpls:

I agree, they would be light work. Too small too old.. but unfortunately canelo gets a pass on fighting them.

We are not saying he's gonna go in there like he did brooks or Monroe, but that canelo power won't be nothing he hasn't seen.

If u look into triple g career he has been ducked his whole life, it started in Europe so then he came to the states and it started here.. Martinez, cotto, canelo all ducked him, Danny for along time did too.

With respect to Sergio he was 37 years old when GGG became a name and shot to shyt after Chavez. GGG came on US tv in Sept 2012....same month Sergio faced Chavez.

In his prime he was sick but that version of Martinez would have gotten annihilated. It would have been a total mismatch and dangerous and not cool at all to make that fight. Would have been unacceptable to put that crippled Martinez in there.

Would you really have wanted to see Sergio past 2010/2011 versus GGG?

Canelo didn't campaign at 160 his entire life though so what's the issue?

Sergio's knee was barely better than Heiland if we keep it lit.

All I remember from 2012 on was NO ONE AT 154-168 can hang.....but he never moved up. Don't mention that shyt and there's no blowback. No Ward...wanted an Old Froch....Chavez Jr (remember that shyt) and had all those guys like Kessler in his backyard for years.

Dudes acting like Jacobs ducked him when Jacobs got cancer and needed 18 months and multiple tuneups just to get back into the game.

Canelo wasn't a MW and fought Floyd, Lara, Trout all in a row. Duck my ass.

First top grade "A" MW he faces and he looks average. And I like GGG.

No he camped at 155, which makes him a middleweight.. who also hydrated as high if not higher than most middleweights.

Voted for Canelo :snoop:

I'm under the impression, that if that fight would have been made 1 year ago, GGG would have won. But GGG's last performances (Brook, Jacobs) really havent impressed me and I don't buy the "Mexican style" where he's supposedly getting hit purposefully for entertainment. Brook and above all Jacobs caught him clean numerous times and that was because of flaws in his defense. On the other end, Canelo seems to have improved in the mean time and somehow I feel the dynamics favor him. Hopefully I'm wrong because I will root for GGG but my head is telling me that Canelo got this.

Just like some people are overrating Canelo's boxing.

Dude barely eked out controversial decision wins every time he fought someone with a pulse, yet some people are acting as if he's some master boxer.

Both guys are overrated as fukk imo.
Whooped on Trout and Cotto, only close fight was Lara. Triple G fought one live body, and he very much arguably lost/drew in that fight

Disagree on Trout. Too many people give that fight a pass. It was close and the scoring was terrible. Canelo probably won, but I wouldn't blame anyone who felt Trout deserved a draw. And yes Canelo has improved since then and would demolish Trout now...but that fight was real close and I watched it after the fact and was thinking to myself, how the fukk did the judges give Canelo all these rounds, Trout held his own.

All these hot takes :mjlol: glad I stayed out of this fight thread the past few weeks.

Nothing has changed since late March when the fight was signed. On paper you can make cases for both fighter, personally I'm going with Canelo. However, going with Triple G or Canelo doesn't mean that person doesn't know boxing. It's a pick 'em fight. As much as i THINK it'll be easy for Canelo to outbox Triple G, he has the power and the pressure to bring it to Canelo.

I'm going with Canelo, but either dude can win. Triple G himself isn't hateable but his team is damn near unbearable. That combined with the massive amount of underrating of Canelo (IMO) and boosting of Triple G (IMO) has made me avoid the build up for this fight. Lets hope it delivers.

Some people would say the same about the Danny Jacobs fight :yeshrug:

Doesn't matter if your opponent has pillow hands no fighter likes getting hit, GGG ultra stans make up some narrative of 'he likes getting hit for entertainment' are doing so because they know that when you get past his jab he has no defense.

This is where Canelo needs to shine you've been using some of TBE's moves since the clinic you fell victim to in 2013, better make sure what you've acquired since then is on display

All I know is both of these guys will look to fight Danny Jacobs after this (well, the winner really)

And looking at the mandatory, its easy to see why :mjpls:

GGG looks relaxed and has a great personality.

One of the other things I have been thinking is that both guys have been really classy and really respectful in the lead up to this fight. Whoever wins, I think the lose will be congratulatory and respectful in defeat. Both these guys are a credit to the sport.

I dnt think Canelo have the firepower to keep GGG off him and honest. I go back to the Cotto fight and Cotton wasn't even visibly hurt or shook off Canelo power. If you can't hurt cotto or takeout a walking punching bag in JCCjr you dnt have a chance with hurting GGG. He might look good with his flashy combos but he dnt have the firepower to really hurt GGG.

Those flashy combos are the real reason Canelo might win this fight. His offense is more diverse and it'll allow him to fight in more spots during the fight. The simple fact Danny had GGG thinking about what was coming back had GGG stuck in mud and resetting even in spots when he didn't need to. It's not always about the power that keeps people honest, sometimes people just get hesitant cause theyre tired of getting hit by something they didn't see. GGG resorted to just pumping a jab against Danny, but what happens when even that is being countered.....but not just by over hand rights. If Canelo gets in GGG chest and muffles his offense while using his superior flexibility at the waist along with a diverse arsenal, we may be in for a night where by the 7th round, the fight will take place in spots where Canelo wants to and when its not, GGG will be thinking too much and stuck in mud.
