It's an opinion. The difference is their opinion holds a little more weight than a fan would. Why? They can give you a perspective from an artistic view point vs. an opinion that's formed based on the end product. It's like NBA legend giving their opinion vs. someone who simply watches them play. Now that doesn't mean what they are saying is gospel, it just holds more weight than someone who is on the outside looking in. Like I could say such and such isn't a good rapper because I don't like their music. Someone who actually raps can actually break down why a rapper isn't good.

Not true. I'm sure Eminem was white when he made Infinite and that album didn't get any kind of recognition until after Dre signed him. Eminem was Ras Kass status before Dre probably lower.
