Nah, it wasnt for me. The living room scene with the parents though :deadmanny: literally. The acting was really good, but it was hard for me connect with the story. It was a little too artsy & I like artsy shyt. I Mood kusic in every scene was overkill .But lets be honest, white ppl are solely the reason this film getting as much love as it is. But I'm not mad :manny:

Thank you . It’s a few people in here being willfully ignorant and contrarian for whatever reason .

These type of movies are for non black folks to try to understand the struggle. And artsy “black struggle porn.”

Can’t watch this type of shyt anymore . Y’all got it.:manny:
This is what happens when thecoli infest your brain
Huh?

A movie from a black director based on the writing of James Baldwin is somehow for non-blacks?

I'd get it if the movie were at all exploitive, but this movie isn't that. It's a romance set against the backdrop of the struggle.

Do you not think these kind of stories should be told at all?

Sparking blunts in the shade.
I love the book and dig the film. I’m only commenting because it dawned on me that if this actually happened in this day and age buddy would’ve been “#cancelled” off the dribble. Objectively speaking this system of oppression that we live in is amazing. The 10 percenters have conditioned us as a people so cold that we attack ourselves for them in every way imaginable, we’ve even started to call each other er ******s. I’d love to see our younger generations have the type of love, respect, and sense of community we had back in the days.

Ole girl was attractive attractive btw. :wow:

This movie is beautiful and amazing.

It is fukked up that Green Book is getting all the attention when this movie should be winning all the awards.

This is honestly the best picture winner, but it probably go to something else because Barry Jenkins just won the award 2 years ago.

Everyone in this movie did a great job.

Finally got around to watching it and I agree with the breh @MrRDU up above regarding the music, I didn't like it in every scene and felt what they were going for but it was over done. Some people might also feel the poetry in it is a bit much but that all depends on personal preference and I for one enjoyed it.

I really like the acting here, the story as well and I felt it was put together in a way that was amazing however it's bitter sweet to me because I feel they show too many black dysfunctional families in Hollywood films. I get that this film was based on an actual book but more often then not they show dysfunctional and broken families regardless and that's not an image we need to see all the time. I feel they could switch it up more often.
