It's based on the Zulu "Ikla" name supposedly comes from the sound it makes when you stab someone with it.
Imo the coolest african weapon. Everyone likes japanese katana's or european long swords. But i'd like to see these get more love.

The Akarefena from Ghana has 20 sword schools. I'd learn single and double and be cutting up.

Honestly, learning archery would be the best thing to do. Bows are an incredible advantage in a world without guns and people drastically underestimate how useful can be in close range. It would honestly be a lot more useful to learn archery than a lot and then maybe a poleaxe for CQC.

Thrusts are king in duels.
