`Say what?
Indeed the commandant had charm/charisma/determination but what part of him was likable? His self-serving nature was clear from the first time he was on screen; when he literally beat into Agu's head (knocking on the blue box he decided Agu should carry) that "I saved your life (so you gotta work for me)" bullshyt.
That nikka was a crook off-rip and I wasn't surprised at all when it came through that he was a pedo. I was shocked, but I wasn't surprised.
`
Anyone that has those attributes are "likable"....He was a natural leader...people dont gravitate to leaders because they are "unlikeable"
The pedo part was necessary to make people realize he was actually a bad person
But why a boy rape scene? Is it implied that it is part of African culture, or just the Commander's weak personality?

It seems to be a part of guerilla culture. Soldiers in Afghanistan say it's a way of life for locals in tribes and those fighting. Kids are "groomed" as young as 8-10. I never been to prison but is that what happens when you go too long on the road without a woman? You start grooming boys?Good question bruh. At first I thought it was some racist bullshyt but now im leaning on ot being a reflection of the commander's thirst for power and recognition.
I think commander preyed on striker and agu because he thought he could condition them through molestation and shock &awe tactics. Plus he knew striker was mute and agu was guilt tripped into believing idris saved his life and was going to reunite him with his fam. shyt worked tho, they were both loyal to him and agu man no homo why he kept staring at idris.
And extra at the end where commander confronts them about leaving and tells agu "when i call for you and tell you to come you will come". The way he looked at agu and his posture was just sick. He almost took what lil soul agu had remaining right there
