Plus those Disney roles small as they are, keep you in the spotlight because they do billions.
But he does need one or two more classic legacy defining roles, because at this point op is true. The Wire is really the only classic character he has on his resume.
Everything else will be forgettable 10 years from now. People will be watching Thor like, oh i didn't know Idris Elba was in this. Luther? Never heard of it.

Idris does have a hit and miss catalogue. However, he is still getting great looks. Hobbs & Shaw, Turn Up Charlie, and god knows how many projects to come. He is without question more of a name than he is someone you are blown away by his performance.

"Sexiest Man Alive" magazine covers(n/h), publicity and props galore, etc.. Hell of a career but he could really use that one headlining great film role to solidify everything imo. He's good either way but I get it,.
