Why do republicacs love playing dress up so much? :dahell:
Same reason Trump wants people who look like they came from central casting.

People will scroll past an old white general being grilled before Congress on social media. This will get people to stop and read the tweet or post.

Donald Trump has revealed that he is opening up Guantanamo Bay to house as many as 30,000 undocumented immigrants.

The president said 30,000 beds were being prepared in Guantanamo Bay to detain “the worst criminal aliens threatening America.”

“That’s a tough place to get out of,” he added.

Gitmo has been used as a temporary detainment center for a handful of would-be migrants, but Trump’s announcement suggests a massive expansion of the remote island facility. It was used to house terror suspects captured after the September 11 attacks.
“Today, I’m also signing an executive order to instruct the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security to begin preparing the 30,000-person migrant facility at Guantanamo Bay,” Trump said in a surprise announcement just before he signed the first bill of his presidency, the Laken Riley Act, which cracks down on undocumented immigrants who are accused of criminal offenses.

“Most people don’t even know that we have 30,000 beds in Guantanamo to detain the worst criminal illegal aliens threatening the American people,” added Trump.

“Some of them are so bad we don’t even trust the countries to hold them because we don’t want them coming back, so we’re going to send them out to Guantánamo. This will double our capacity immediately,” he added.

Asked about the development, new Homeland Security chief Kristi Noem said there “may be some resources for the worst of the worst” to be held at Guantanamo Bay.

Raids by ICE teams targeting immigrants in the U.S. illegally have rounded up scores of people in recent days, raising questions about where they will be housed.

Originally opened as “an island outside the law” when it opened in 2002, Guantanamo Bay was used to interrogate terror suspects without the normal restraints and, first Barack Obama, and later Joe Biden tried to close it down. Currently, there are just 15 inmates.

It is reportedly also used as a holding center for some migrants intercepted while trying to reach the United States by sea. But the military base off Cuba still operates outside the mainland immigration laws, according to The New York Times.

An internal government report said the camp was beset by rats and overflowing toilets and inmates were blindfolded while being moved around the facility.

Only 37 migrants were held at Gitmo—the name used as shorthand for the island by the U.S. military—between 2020 to 2023.

In 2019, Trump claimed he wanted to use the base as a giant holding pen for immigrants from around the world.

Lately, I been seeing threads saying we should have no sympathy for these illegals getting snatched up because they're Latinos. That's a load of bullshyt. My city has a sizeable foreign-born Black population and ICE have been taking a lot of them. They raided an African market the other day and my mom sent me the footage to me on WhatsApp. As I said multiple times before, I'm an immigrant who only had my citizenship since 2006. I'm always worried about Trump trying to revoke it at some point or revoking the citizenship of or deporting the people I love. So yeah, have sympathy because it's affects everyone.

Wrong is wrong no matter who it happens to.

You can't be out here forcing others to care about things they don't care about. That's not the point of these stories.

You see the whole "I'm not Guatemalan so I don't care"..."Palestinians hold your own nuts..." Etc...

The point, or rather the primary point, is to highlight the objective and pattern and injustice of what's going on with this administration.

You don't have to study history for too long to understand that this kind of thing NEVER stops at 1 group of people.

Some folks on the coli don't give a shyt about this deportation or family separation or threats to send convicts to overseas prison camps ....yet. Until that train reaches their station.

I genuinely believe that rhetoric is psyops. classic divide and conquer tactics.
