Also DR got invaded by Haiti in the early 1820s I believe, by doing so they liberated DR from spanish influence. Haitian rulers wanted to complete the total unification of the Haiti island, in order to create a new nation, instead of letting it segregated by a border. Haitian government viewed correctly that Haitians and Dominicans were essentially the same people, except the language and customs inherited from spain. Most dominicans were of african ancestry, like haitians, except that in DR, half-breeds were more numerous there than in Haiti.

Haitians played chess and wanted to erase spanish customs and language, in order to make them understand that they were africans like them, brothers. But domos, instead of thanking them Haitians and showing them gratitude for freeing them from spaniards, rebelled themselves and made sure they were a seperate country again. I don't think thats what "Uncle Toms" do though.I feel like deep down they just want to belong to the dominant society so they can feed their families. I really don't think alot of "c00ns" really mean to cause blacks distress. They just try to assimilate with whites by changing clothes/mannerisms/speech styles. If they wan't to act like whites to put plates on the table I can't really say I find it right to insult them , joking around is okay but to an extent these are just people that want to take care of their families and pride/ego go out the window when you are holding your baby in your hands and you know the baby needs you to survive.

Nobody likes Haitians, that's the truth. The fact that they're so black and ugly is part of the reason they're disliked, but it's mostly due to their poverty and heavy migration to other countries in the region.
