Yeah I get what u saying but don't think u or anyone else is irreplaceable. There may be certain positions which we essential but most jobs there are others who can do the work...especially if it's a support or admin position.

But I feel u...being good at ur job can help with security but nothing is guaranteed...especially with us being black (assuming u are). Also work ethic and professionalism intertwined with intelligence and excellent performance will put u low on any termination list.
Naw you right though. I guess some of us brothers move smarter than some. I was born with the mouthpiece and in my line of work that's everything.

On one hand I agree and I see it too. But at the same time, you making cool brothas with corporate jobs look at themselves in the mirror like

"Am I tap dancing?"

"Do I sound like the "safe negro"?

"Am I a token black?"

My opinion is get in where you fit in. If you are having trouble finding work, you need to learn a more valuable skill and work towards becoming self-employed. It's 2016, if you are still relying on someone else to give you a job - you deserve what is coming to you

Do marketing on the side. Create a basic
marketing plan/template and Cold call some companies with ideas on how you market for them. You get enough companies on board and it can turn full time easily.

Going by some of the responses in here, it's obvious you're shooting yourselves in the feet when it comes to getting jobs. If you go in with the mentality, "I am who I am, take it or leave it.....but if you leave it, you're just an insecure scared cac" you have no chance. You're not getting anywhere by being bitter or trying to hate people before they can get a chance to hate you.

There are some junk interviews out there where the company just has a certain quota of people they have to interview so it looks like they're doing their due diligence but for the most part, if you got to the interview portion, you have a great chance of getting the job. You don't have to tap dance, you should be talking to them and seeing if you even want the job. Don't let them ask all the questions, you should be asking them at least as many as they ask you. They're already interested in hiring you or they wouldn't have called you in so you don't have to be fake or use a gay voice. If you're getting a lot of interviews but aren't getting offers, you're doing something wrong.

Hmmm. I'm big and black, so not the cornball type at all. Maybe because I'm in Finance it's a different story. I don't tap dance. Most of my interviews they get straight to the point about the position. I never come off as a dikk, but I never was those kind of people that go over the top to get the job.

I think marketing and advertising you would have to be over zealous and corny af. It's just the industry. Especially if cacs are doing the interview. OP probably didn't talk about how he loved dogs and thought Adele is such a great singer. :mjlol:

If you get a interview you're qualified for the job.

These companies hire based on if you'll fit the culture or not.

Threads like this remind me why I hate the type of c00ns who belittle black men for not getting a job in corp america. "I got one, why cant you?!"

It's extremely hard for black brehs out here, even with ones with serious experience and degrees. Being in corporate america over 10 years, they have black women ghetto or not all over the mothafukka. We black men are shut the fukk out. The few at a time rule is real. I think I was one of 5 black men in a building of over 500 people and the other four were effeminate, gay, old or just subservient as fukk.

Who ever said start your own shyt kept it 100, but in the meantime, you have to play the game and it's seriously unfair. Requires lots of persistence and herculean mental strength. My last corporate job, I was in Auditing/Banking/Finance. I had 10+ years of finance experience in like four different places and had it sell the absolute fukk out of my self and resume to get that job. Left mentally exhausted. The cac who got the same position a year after me? He worked at a subway making sandwiches and came on board making 5k more than me. :stopitslime: They wanted to, according to my manager, "give him a chance to start his career." :mjpls:

When it comes to interviewing with cacs though, you have to have the experience of course, but everything about you has to scream "non typical negro." This is not the time to be all "this is who I am! if they don't like it, their loss." Nah, brehs that's the mantra of the broke nikka. You got to make them feel extremely comfortable with your presence because the absolute #1 thing black men need to nail with these cacoid interviews is "cultural fit." You don't have to be the best person for the job, you have to be the most liked person for the job. If these cacs aint feelin warm and fuzzy about you, you're getting thrown in the bushes.

I have no degree, which is a death sentence for most nikkas, but I'll cultural fit my ass off, talkin about pink floyd, the festivals in the city, the weather, hockey, the passion for the industry, etc while faking interest in their personal lives for twenty mins. I also google the recruiters to gain info. Last job offer I received was because I mentioned that I loved writing (which is halftrue) when I saw that he was passionate about the subject on his linkedin page. :pachaha:

If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
There's not one single corporate environment in this country where black people can go and be hired en masse by other black people via nepotism and cronyism. Not one. The non-melanated have 100's. White people determine what's deemed appropiate for the work place, what's "profesional," what hairstyles are suitable, and so on. Thus, they ultimately construct the ideal(s) of who is employable, and who isn't.

People talk about white supremacy this and that, but this job shyt is white supremacy stewed to a perfection. It really bothers me that educated, talented, hyper-intelligent black men - such as myself - have to be cognizant not to offend the sensibilities of the interviewer and play their little games.

"So, why do you want to work here :usure:?"

fukk you mean why I wanna work here? Lol.

Even the bank I work at made me interview twice on some just because shyt, and I obliterated the first interview.
