Predators can be anybody. And I do mean anybody- moms, sisters, aunts, other kids.
My husband has a problem understanding this shyt. Got a big ass family and thinks cause he wasn't abused, they are not abusers. Idgf. My child aint going nowhere with nobody unless he or I are present. Told him he better get on board cause there are no exceptions to this rule. 1000 family members and you think they all good people. The odds say different.

My wife and I are the same with our 10mo son. Only people who watch him when we are away is her mom or mine. It's a very short list. No grandmas, no aunts, no dads, no uncles. That's it.
My wife comes from a family that has endured molestation from family members. It's rough.
I don't consider that molestation. There's only a 3 year difference. But it's on you; whether or not you felt molested/violated.
No because I had 2 parents that were very active in my life, they didn't trust anybody and as I got older I see why....this thread is proof 
My family didn’t allow me to stay overnight at other people’s homes and neither did they allow family members who were not immediate to stay at our home. Growing up, I thought most parents were like this.
It seems like most people who go through these things are being raised by people who were not meant to be or ready to be parents in the first place.

I do suspect my older brother was though, and I suspect it was our stepmother. But it's never been mentioned by either of them...
There is a ton to unpack here, but let's just say I can remember her calling his dikk big in an argument when he was around 15; she woulda been around 35. And i can remember them getting in a fistfight and him stripping her and grabbing her breasts...
This is uncomfortable to talk about and I wasn't the assaulted one, but I remember these things distinctly. And my mother comes from such a traumatic life of abuse it's amazing she's still alive today at 51....
The brother and sister who said no one watches their kids, I'm about there. We have two daughters, her mom has watched them three or four times, one friend babysat once, another has babysat a couple times. Other than that, no one, and I don't trust anyone around them besides my woman...
