they need guys to stay in character. In the '90s there was no internet, so no boards for spoilers or other smarky BS. (I know there were some but it was infinitesimal.) Everything felt real and fun. It's why the nWo was so popular, because it really felt like an invasion from another org. (Plus the genius decision to have Hall come from the crowd, and not an entrance.) Now, people are too self-aware and know it's all fake, but the worst part is WWE is in on the meta-ironist bullshyt too. They need wrestlers doing youtube videos in character, and pranks and shyt. Million Dollar Man fukking with that black kid would get 10 million views now on youtube if he did it in a park, and then that would help boost ratings.
