buy amazon instead. Everyone hates on the stock.. sh1t still preforms. They new things.. plus I predect that the Amazon movie steaming, kindle streaming, movie rental things is going to pop off. Idk what its called, but yea I say put a couple g's into Amazon. It's not cheap, but fck it because it's going to grow.

Nah. Amazon is just fukking with the streaming game right now and have no true interest in growing it. I think amazon will focus on their tablet game and becoming the number provider of digital media...

Despite what folks may think, Netflix will have the streaming game on lock...

Other corps started hating and froze them out like Jordan during the all star game in 85

sooooo when is Netflix going to step their game up? They used to be great, now I take a look at the streaming playlist for Amazon = more mass appeal, more new sh1t. Netflix is good for someone like me, maybe, watching old sh1t, documentaries, random foreign movies... but after a while it sucks searching for something new and good to watch.

They still are great..Netflix changed the streaming industry...When content providers like Starz, Showtime, etc saw what Netflix was building, their licensing fees for their content went from 20 mil to a quarter of a billion dollars.

When contracts were cancelled, providers had their own apps developed like HBO GO, Cinemax's app, etc, etc....

Netflix kicked down the door and now everyone is trying to eat...

Netflix has over 150k titles for their fee and Amazon has less than a fifth of that.

You can rent new movies from Amazon, but who rents movies nowadays???

There is a generation coming up who paid for less that 40% of their movie/music content and they don't plan on starting when they become working class adults, I promise you this.

If I had to pick the company that's going to be uber successful in streaming videos, I would pick the company that specializes in it as oppose to the retailer that dabbles in it...

And oh yeah, Microsoft has thrown its hat in the streaming video arena as well...:win:

Good point.

however, we are talking stocks. Amazon eats off Netflix - Neflix uses Amazons web services. Netflix is mainly focused on the streaming, as u said, but they aren't prepared for the competition from companies with histories of shutting down others, and companies with naturally more innovative business models. Look at the companies we've mentioned; Netflix can't play in that sandbox. That sandbox will increase those licensing fees again, and squeeze Netflix out. Everyone will eat and pay homage to NFLX.

Currently NF can't afford it's self, so it's already happening. Plus people don't usually pay for movies but they sometimes are willing. Just like apple only charges pennies or a few dollars for sh1t- Amazon will do that as well. Plus they have access to the Piff. The new sh1t. 2.99 and u can have it for 48 hours. Hulu is going to slowly kill NF with the TV shows. Amazon already has a E book reading, and cloud music customer base that will simply consolidate from all that with NF, to only effing with Amazon.

Dish is basically amazing. And it's already on the TV, u don't need a devise. They've taken over all the blockbuster locations (infrastructure), not NF- plus they have random channels that no one else has. They have, imo, the most niche material. Entire stations focused on one thing, plus it isn't wack like ATT.

96 (8 per month, when everything u really want going to DVD ONly) per year to stream NF vs 79 on Amazon with Amazon constantly adding titles and NF losing titles.

yeah, I don't think you can go wrong with AMZN. The thing that gives me pause is it trades at like 3000 times earnings which is insane, and yet nobody is short this stock. It's only 2.5% of the stock's float is short.

I wish I had bought some of the Netflix stock back when it was down. 3D and 1080P movies now and their library is getting a lot better...

Hmmm.

Some excellent points made. Didn't know Netflix used amazon's web services...

I need to do a lil more research here. When you refer to dish, do you mean the satellite company?

Is this a rumor? And it wouldn't be a merger it would be apple buying nflx. They got more money sitting around than some countries economies. I think apple should buy twitter

nah I'm just saying if they did

and I disagree about twitter, I don't see them lasting that long

I would be wary of this stock. There's no way NFLX can compete with the $$ licensing fees these studios are now asking for. And the crazy rise since the beginning of the year is too sudden for me to buy at this point. People will take their profit and then you'll see this stock tumble down to where it should really be.

Personally, even though I have an account, I rarely use Netflix. They don't have the movies Amazon has available. I pay Amazon 4.99 (HD feed) when I want to watch something more current. Or there's always On-Demand. Netflix may have an unmatched library of streaming content, but 99% of that is something I"ll never watch.
