I tried to watch Goldeneye (1995) because I saw all the Daniel Craig movies and had to turn it off

Gotta disagree with you on this one. Aside from the lack of special effects

(they was still using toy models to film plane crashes and explosions)

:mjlol:

like that missile that came up out the water and hit their crop duster looking plane

:mjlol:

aside from that factor, it’s probably the last real Bond film before the Daniel Craig reboot of the series. I think this movie had a book written before they decided to film (that’s always infinitely better in terms of script, to have a book precede) AND the last plausible realistic scenario in terms of an EMP satellite weapon from the Cold War still floating around.

Plus, Femke did good as a crazy sex driven Russian woman (from Georgia)

They didn’t even go over the top with the name, just Onatoppa (:mjlol:)

I feel like the rest of Bronson’s Bond films are too over the top.

I always remember Die Another Day because it was the first Bond movie I fell asleep on while watching in the theatres

:mjlol:

Casino Royale was fire and the rest of the Daniel Craig movies were largely snooze fests

CR made me feel like we were about to get the killer man whore that we needed for the new era and then QS was just....MEH

Skyfall was aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight

Spectre tried to save it and failed

I suspect the most recent one will be trash too

im with you op.... i tried watching some pre craig bond films. Not my cup of tea. they re to cartoonish for my taste.
They went in a new direction with the Craig bond movies.
Serious, darker.
I watched Skyfall again yesterday. It had lots of shyt that needed explaining but i enjoyed the movie. I tired watching Spectre after that :unimpressed: Its even worse than quantum of solace

be mad at a early to mid 90's action movie for being a early to mid 90's action movie breh's:francis:

outside Casino Royale (my favorite bond movie period) the Daniel Craig bond movies are hella boring with weak final climax's and meh bond girls them shyts have no to very little replay value after the first watch i would take goldeneye over any of them Craig joint's besides Casino Royale

Yeah the Bond girls sure are wack in these last few movies

I heard the switch in tone is mostly because of the Bourne series. They were trying to mimic that franchise.

Goldeneye is a classic, only a scene or two feel dated with the music (the car Monaco scene, for one), the rest is pretty flawless, as far as Bond goes.

Some of that is just generational, that movie came out when I was 10, so I watched it at birthday parties, rented it from Blockbuster, and the 64 game was a part of my friends and I lives for years after.

At 10 Famke Jannessen was one of the first real women that I understood to be sexy, in that movie.
