There’s rappers like Meek, Durk, Herb, Lil Wayne that were so popular in the city to the point they influenced trends and had sons or even helped bring about a whole subgenre as OT rappers

The only time K Dot was bumped like that in NYC was GKMC

Nas never wanted it. Jay campaigned for it. He took it when he beat Jay. X naturally had it before Jay. Nas had it in 96 too. Biggie had 94-95 imo. Mase had 97 overall. Jay had 00-01. Nas had 02.

Mase in 97 over Biggie? I'm not from NY, just curious the reason.

im a southern nikka so :hubie:

but was DMX never in the conversation? Cause as a southern nikka, the only NY nikkas that I heard album cuts blasting from cars were DMX in 98 and 50 in 03

but I do agree with everybody else in the op and I got Jigga second only to Pac all time

DMX had 98 and 99. Pretty clearly imo.
