I Still Hold It Against Vince Carter That He Never Squared Up Against Jason Richardson

They had good contests, but they don't have the longevity or historical effect that Carter has.
I know they were dynamic in their own right, but I doubt most people remember what they even did.
I'm sure more folk remember Carter's performance over than any of those.
Not to mention he had so many crazy in game moments after that contest (like the dunk over a 7 footer in the Olympics) that constantly reminded you he was the most prolific dunker of his time.

Nonetheless...Carter vs JRich would've been pretty epic

lets be real: "most people" is just code-word for "casual viewers".

real bball fans know that j.rich is right there with vince.

people in here trippin.

if you think vince carter is the reason why the contest is "wack", then you just havnt been watching.

also, this whole idea of the contest being "dead" is nothing new. we get the same ole song & dance every year, even if the competition is great. the only time we dont hear this bullchit is when a legit star wins the competition, even if their dunks werent all that.

and this stuff was being said before vince came thru. do yall not remember people complaining about the contest in the '90s? they even tried to get rid of it and eliminated it from all-star saturday night in '98, which ended up being the dumbest decision ever.

u can't tell me the first time you saw vince do that reverse 360 windmill as his first dunk you didn't jump out your chair like :ooh::ooh::mindblown:

dont forget francis and tmac also had great dunks before him, so that shyt was on another level. J rich def had some good dunks, but his competition was much weaker than what VC faced

how was j.rich's competition weaker?

j.rich beat steve francis just like vince did.
desmond mason is right up there with t-mac.

the other guys j.rich beat were arguably better than the supporting cast in that 2000 dunk contest.

yall act like those '02 & '03 contests werent the chit.

how is this true when jrich & desmond mason followed up the next couple years with good contests?
desmonds was actually pretty trash…i watched both of em last night. J Rich might be the goat though. Cant call it between he and vince

Though I would say J-Rich had more difficult dunks (that bouncing between the leg one hand reverse he did was just :whoo:), they always looked messy to me.

No dunks ever looked more graceful, cleaner, smoother, and/or stronger than Vince's. Dude's windmill, for example, is just a thing of beauty.

This is the most underrated dunk in dunk contest history.

and they gave him a measley 45.

jr smith stayed getting screwed over, dating all the way back to the mcdonalds contest where he was doing crazy stuff like that, only to lose to candace parker who did the same basic 1920s dunks and could barely get over the rim. i stopped watching the mcdonalds contests and even the game for years after that......and i was already mad about how they screwed james white a few years prior. SMH.

Stop it. Vince is arguably the GOAT dunker, no disrespect to J Rich, but you didn't have people anticipating a J Rich dunk the way they did a Vince dunk. J Rich would've competed hard & lost and that would've been that. FOH with this revisionist bullshyt :camby:

i think vince is arguably the goat myself. the only thing stopping me from saying that hes the goat is that he hasnt competed in enough competitions and didnt go head up with j.rich, who is right up there with him.

as far as anticipation, stuff like that is mostly the result of hype. if the media threw a hype machine around j.rich's dunks, then the masses(casuals) would be on his top just as much.

J-Rich would've got with Vince in a dunk contest, he would've had a damn good chance at beating him. Richardson almost had 3 Dunk Contest wins in a row some of you are some y'all musta forgot ass nikkas. JRich is probably the GOAT NBA dunk contest participant

Vince was that nikka but some of his dunks ain't fukking with J-Rich. Dude threw it off the backboard and went between his legs, that shyt STILL aint been done again in a dunk contest. Go watch his dunk contest. Vince had all the hype and he showed out but my money would've been on Jason Richardson
