he's close with todd helton from the rockies (went to school with him), and pretty much didn't want to step on eli's shoes in the nfc. also denver offered more and pursued harder.

looking at the teams though, 49ers are heads and shoulders better.

pretty much the colts defense did get them that ring, they were incredible that playoffs. manning gets respect for finally accepting that challenge vs brady in that title game though. i didn't think he would when they went down 21-3
