I don't think he meant that. I believe he meant that Jay is basically the person who runs Black music, like behind the scenes. And if he doesn't like you then he can make things happen.

Jay definitely has power in the industry but i’ve always believed its WILDLY overstated

Jay couldn’t blackball Nas when Nas tore his head off with Ether. Hell Hot 97, who were the biggest Jay cheerleaders during that period couldn’t even blackball Nas. The most that was done was not letting Nas hang that Jay-Z robot at Summer Jam, which was a blessing in disguise.

Jay couldn’t blackball R.Kelly after they fell out, whatever problems Kelly’s nasty ass faced were his and his alone and he belongs in jail.

Jay couldn’t blackball Cam’ron or Jim Jones when they were going at him. Jim Jones most successful period as an artist was when he was playing Jay’s heel.

All of this “power” Jay has mostly been focused on building himself up not tearing other artists down or in some way negatively impacting their careers.

You know what's crazy to me?

That awkward feeling when you hear a kid singing "I believe I can flyyy"

As a parent do you try and get them to kinda stop or just play it off?
