Wait what?

This generation has a lot more successful independent young black males. The fukk you talkin about:dahell:

Not on the scale of a J Prince, Suge, Dame, Diddy, Master P, Or Birdman. These "independent" nikkas are only independent to a certain degree. They're still under contracts and various parent companies. And they're not making no real moves in this industry. They just make music an thats it. No redefining the standard or any of that shyt like Dame was trying to do

Bro bad music happened back them but those rappers were slandered and were shut down immediately. Knock it the fukk off. Biters back in the day were called out. Now its no problem to be a blatant biter i.e. Desiigner. For every MC Hammer in the 90s you had 10 DMX's. Today its the opposite. Just stop it. And i dont give a fukk about how "theres still good great music out there you just have to find it" why the fukk do we have to "find" it? Why cant it be mass promoted? Music is entertainment, not analytical research. "Finding" good music is only something hardcore music fans do but not the average person. So no, its not the fukking same. Back in the day you could turn on a radio and hear Scarface "I Seen A man Die". Now we gotta dig deep on soundcloud just to find songs on the same caliber of that kind of substance? fukk out of here
It can't be mass promoted because rappers are a lot smarter these days and don't have to become slaves just to make money and sell songs. You sound old and bitter, its 2016 and if you don't know where to find music you like then that's your problem

i know where to find music, and i know plenty of great underground rappers, thats besides the point though, its not the same as a legion of amazing rappers being mass promoted by hip hop magazines, hip hop tvs and radio. that was part of what made 90s hip hop so great. fukk that shyt

This is a ridiculous statement. All those nikkas you named all had joint venture deals with major labels to get to where they are. A lot of artists these days are successful with distribution deals with distribution labels (not major distributers)

Nipsey Hussle was just selling mixtapes for $100 & $1000 a piece. That's not making moves?

Gucci Mane

Fetty Wap

Chance The Rapper

I'm probably missing some obvious ones but that's off top

Edit: I think Suge still owns the Deathrow masters so he gets a pass

lets look at 1994. the "GOAT" year for hip hop righ? illmatic, all dat shyt.

wellll....

DA BRAT, 69 BOYS, CRAIG MACK AND SALT N PEPPA WERE THE BIGGEST ACTS OF THAT YEAR HOLY SHYT THAT MUSTVE SUCKED.

Fast foward to 2016 we got young thugger unlocking flows, lil uzi vert sending lames to new dimensions with his wavey music, kanye still dropping classics with future legend Chance the rapper, and all em underground labels like Dirty Science and MMG keeping that jazzy hip hop sound alive.

we win.

These people are not at the same level or influence as the people i named. Its not just about owning your masters or being on an "independent" label or being self made. its about being self made on a large scale. Dame Suge J Prince Irv was going to put their money together to form a distribution company. a fukking distribution company. thats the kind of bossing up im talking about. not little shyt like that Fetty Wap and Chance The Rapper shyt

the rap bosses in the 90s were way closer to getting on that level then any of these nikkas today are

Are you bozo's purposefully being obtuse. Or do you think I am just talking about fashion here?

YOU nikkaS DONT SEE ANYTHING FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG WITH THESE nikkaS PERSONALITY'S AND INTELLIGENCE? :wtf: :mindblown:

they're playing stupid. Even MC Hammer who was the worst rapper of all time at one point was still an articulate and smart rude who rolled with official nikkas. the difference betwen the personalities back in the day and today is too obvious too ignore but these dweebs in here are so conditioned by media to accept it

Bingo. I guess you can say I'm apart of the new generation, 22, and if baffles me that people in the same age range actually like some of these "acts". I'm all for accepting someone who's trying to make a name for themselves but be original and do something that stands out. If you don't stand out, I'm not fukn' with you....which is why the only time I hear of Uzi, Vert, Thug, etc. is on theColi.

The thread should have ended with the Hammer and X comparisons; pretty much hit the nail on the head.

People who say "90s had bad rappers too" are mainly devil's advocate dikkheads who use MC Hammer Vanilla Ice and Will Smith to validate their claims. Will Smith wasnt even a bad rapper and the other two were wack but at least they had charisma persona and werent braindead
