It’s laughable when people who don’t do the art try to explain things they have no idea about as “gatekeepers” and people parrot it

I don’t know how bad it is with movies now but I stopped with music reviews a long time ago

Anthony Lane, A.O Scott, Wesley Morris, Maholia Dargis are all good, very, very "esoteric", but I read them every movie I watched. Ebert is the best critic, and I still read his stuff everytime I can, when I see a movie that is new to me.

Also, critics think more like me than the average American movie goer, so I do trust them on a lot of reviews.

Siskel and Ebert

I agreed with Ebert more than I did Siskel. Siskel almost exclusively hated horror films. Breh gave Silence of the Lambs a thumbs down.

At least Ebert gave films a chance.
