[QUOTE="PhonZhi, postEast as 15272043, member: 2488OFunny thing about that Adidas commercial is the 1st time i sawfunnyas in a public setting and the brutha beside me was like "everytime i see black people in commercials we either running, jumping or rapping"
I was like
damn rite. Couldnt believe somebody said what i was thinking.
Goes to show that we're slowly waking up
Op you not wrong.
Easy for people to be oh so funny on the internet.
OF course an adidas commercial has atheletes and running and jumping.
Thats not the issue ofcourse.
The issue is that these are either only or the vast majority of the images that our children see that look like them in commercials.
Atheletes rappers singers dancers or some caricture of what they feel comfortable with us being. Ie the thug, the funny sidekick, the bumbling idiot or insert non threatening stereotype here.
continue staying woke brother.

I get what you are saying, but OP is still misguided for criticizing an Adidas commercial showcasing athletes....
If OP said "Why are these the ONLY commercials I see us in" (which is still completely untrue...I would imagine OP watches a lot of sports and ergo sees a lot of sports related commercials) then the outrage would be a little more fitting.
Anyone can find negativity in anything...when I see that commercial I see young kids having fun, working out, succeeding and getting the attention of a college coach...looks like Black Excellence to me
when I see this commercial I see a father and son having fun...people wanting to see the negative will say "I see a black guy having to dance again being a c00n"
When I see this one I see a nice father (married) and son... people wanting to see the negative can say "they show us sleeping during the day like we don't have jobs"
I know I'm taking it to the extreme but OP's claim about that commercial is so stupid. How else are 17 year old athletes supposed to be portrayed in a commercial for an athletic company?
