Thinking of the draft, I think someone mentioned Chase Claypool earlier and I think I'm on that train now...let's get him in the 2nd round, ask him to lose 10 lbs...and focus on Henderson/Fulton/Delpit in the first round

I think there are better options that Claypool to be honest, looking at guys. I watch him and hes a body catcher, and its not just focus drops but dude drops a lot of balls. Hes not a good blocker, so he can never be a true TE. I like his body control and has great speed for his side, but this draft is rich in WR and I think other guys are much more sure things and better.

Heard the same things about Metcalf in Seattle. Good coaching should help to overcome some of those deficiencies. He was HIGHLY productive, and with that size and speed, it's worth exploring. We've had success drafting offensive players in the 2nd round (D-Jack, Ertz, Goedert, Sanders) so I'm interested to see if we go WR in the 2nd and focus on defense in the first again.

We will see, I also dont have faith in development of receivers by our coaching staff with how JJAW, Mack Hollins, and dont forget DGB who might be a good comparison for Claypool. He has tools to be really good..

I totally agree with you though on CB in round 1, they must address that position even with Slay, and they must get it right here

If the Eagles miss out on Jeudy/Lamb/Ruggs, Jalen Reagor would be a good guy to take a chance on. His history with drops is concerning, but he’s a legitimate speed guy who brings a dynamic and explosive element we’ve been screaming for in an Eagles wide receiver. Just watch his tape. Reagor was also held back by extraordinarily bad QB play in college and I would love to see what he’d be able to do with Wentz throwing to him. I’d also take Brandon Aiyuk.

Failing that, I wouldn't be all that opposed to moving up to get Jeudy or Lamb or someone. It'll hurt to sacrifice draft picks, but it's coming to be time to pay Wentz and the Eagles can't afford to have another slow-moving offense because the only productive receivers the QB can throw to are Greg Ward, two Tight Ends, and Miles Sanders.

We simply need to develop JJAW into a #2 receiver at this point, and hit on a receiver in the first 2 rounds. Easier said than done but I have faith we will hit on a wr in the draft.

I agree with you very much on getting Jeudy Lamb, or even moving up only a few spots for Ruggs. We knows Ruggs is fast, but he looks like a receiver and a football player too. Like to me, hes not John Ross. I would trade up to 13 to get Lamb or Jeudy though, they are both perfect

I like Aiyuk a lot too, I wouldnt mind trading back like 5 or 6 slots and get him. The other guys I really like is Jefferson and Shenault in like that same area. For Jefferson, we havent had a short route, possession guy outside of Ertz for forever. I would like to see what Carson could do with a short crossing pattern, hitch type receiver that just moves chains and doesnt drop the ball. Maybe Ward is that, so I dont know

I'd still be content on JJAW becoming the next Jason Avant. Just be a sure handed guy who can block well and catch the ball when thrown to. Sucks that a 2nd rounder would be nothing more than that.. but really that's all I want out of him at this point.

Block.

Catch almost all of the 30-55 targets you get.

Also, I missed probably 12 pages in this thread over the past two months. I know you were the person who introduced me to Shenault. After he ran poorly, albeit injured, do you still have interest?

We should consider trading back to the early 2nd to get him. That 40 time was an anomaly. He needs to get healthy but he will be a beast with the right Coach, QB, and system.

The thing with chasepool is that he tested well but when I saw some game tape, dude struggle to get any separation.

I'll only draft dude of Mims,Aiyuk,Shenault,Hamler,Raegor are all gone (the guys I consider the 2nd tier)

Do you believe we have the right coach and system?

Doug has to adjust our offense the way Andy did his. West Coast at the core but we need to have more verticality in the offense. Shenault would be a great fit for us. It would help if JJAW becomes our intermediate threat and D-Jack stretching the field should help the underneath spacing for a player like Shenault.

Why are y’all on here even entertaining the idea of receivers with a history of drops ? :mjtf:

if he’s an injury prone or Have drop issues , keep him far away from my team .
And we all know our coaching staff isn’t good enough to develop prototype receivers .
Hell they even had Greg Ward stashed on the practice squad .

I don’t have faith in JJAW to develop, honestly. I know it’s not impossible, but I don’t see him as a guy who matches up well with Wentz’s skill set. We need route-runners who get open, not guys who excel at contested catches. JJAW hasn’t shown to be that.

Ward, Ertz, Goeddert, and JJAW all did that last season, actually. What we lacked after DJax got hurt was a guy who could get open deep and generate explosive plays. That’s why I wouldn’t want Jefferson, seems exclusively like a slot guy who works the short/intermediate areas of the field. We need a deep threat more than a anything.

And I want no parts of Shenault. :whoa:
