Make It Hot-ta
rony havin a fukkin fit afterwards > the pass
sick pass.. but it wasnt intended
accidental passerer
Obvious it wasn't accidental. Yall play ball?I love Kobe and I love that play to the max! always though it was underated.............however , I think that pass was accidental or more probably luck lol
Yeah, catch and shoot types ain't really my idea of the "prototypical" shooting guard...they're moreso specialists at this point...the mj/kobe/vince/(young)ray allen mold is moreso what I consider the modern traditional off guard to be....great iso skill sets, mix of slashing and jump shooting...their roles on teams typically aren't that of other player types like combo guards or point forwards that bring the ball up the floor dribbling at the top of the key, doing pick and rolls or drive kicks every time down the court...when the ball is in their hand, it's in iso situations looking to attack in most cases...and in the case of the triangle offense, a system predicated on constant ball movement instead of singular dominating playmakers...it's not typically something that lends itself to big assists numbers...and yet, somehow...begrudgingly...still averaged 5apg for his career....for as much as it's brought up and made an issue, the argument seems overblown compared to the reality of the stats and his career roleKobe has the ball in his hands way more often than the prototypical catch and shoot type guard though. Dude can pass and has passed but he said himself that he's a gunner and it's pretty apparant from watching him for 17 years that he isn't the biggest fan of passing the ball.

Of course he's a gunner, he's one of the most prolific scorers in history....I'm saying that the "he doesn't pass the ball" criticism of a SG averaging 5ast for his career is a bit silly and overblown, the numbers flat out don't match the narrative...you don't average 5ast just by accident...not playing most of your entire career in a system that limits even the singular playmaking opportunities of an actual elite point guards like PaytonKobe/MJ did ball-handling over the course of their careers than Vince and Raymond. Kobe and MJ were basically combo guards in that they would often bring the ball up and initiate the offense. Are you really trying to deny that Kobe is a gunner? He admitted it himself. He get's 5 ast because he has the ball in his hands so much, has had some quality scoring teammates, and of course he's just a fukkin beast on the court, not because he's the most willing passer.

That narrative is based moreso off of his issues with Shaq and his big-stage gunning episodes then his assist numbers.

.
he attacked the basket...too many defenders...got an escape route..
And my entire point in the thread was that the better argument against that narrative is to point out the actual REALITY of his entire career on court production...instead of pointing out a singular instance of him making a timely flashy pass...I know people will argue against reality regardless to hang on to specific anti-player rhetoric and talking points, but it's a better and more sound argument anyway
Per game numbers don't tell the whole story otherwise Bron is a more aggressive scorer than Kobe and Shaq was a great, active defender at his peak because of his blocks numbers. Factors other than you ability/willingness to do something can contribute to numbers.
Okay, the pass was on purpose. Quite a few great passes were an escape route, which is why some were GREAT passes.
you realize you your statement is a contradiction right?
the pass being on purpose i dont agree.. the pass being sick i do.
a great passer will find the open man in almost any situation..
Kobe got lucky Pau was following through cuz that looked like it was going to be a turn over.
Got lucky? Who cares? The pass was on purpose, not accidental like you said.
