I'm also surprised hes training with Roofus. That gym hasn't had the best reputation for being welcoming

IDK. Seems like hes taking it slow and doing baby steps. Like hes literally learning how to fight since he has no base. By the rate hes going it sounds like it will take maybe a year and a half before he accepts something

Punk knows he's going to get a very winnable fight, I see him making his debut this year.

I would not be surprised at all if the UFC brings in some bum and pays em to take a dive to build up hype. Dana and the Fertita's will do anything to build new stars in the UFC

:heh:

How's he going to become champ when he won't crack the top 400 in his division.

But how low can they go to find someone shytty enough to take a dive? If the person is paid, and holds back, it will look very obvious. Dude will rock him with strikes and take him down into mount.. then flop over and get his back taken and choked???

It seems kind of short sighted in a sense because he's a quick fix not a long term solution in any manner but dude is drawing a LOT of eyeballs right now. I'm hoping he wins if he does make it to his fight because I love watching Sherdog/try hards lose their minds when something outside of their little box of what mma is supposed to be happens.

Best case for the UFC is he comes in and gets destroyed because it sends a hell of a message to guys who "were good athletes" and want to now try this ufc thing after their athletic prime

I honestly don't see a problem with this. I'm not saying I would sign him if I was Dana White, but if the guy wants to fight and accepts the risks, why not? No one removed credibility from boxing when Mickey Rourke was fighting, why would CM fighting MMA remove credibility from the UFC?

He'd literally be walking off the street at age 36 learning how to fight in 6-9 months. That's sad. UFC thinks they will get the WWE fan again and it'll be a boon on ppv, but we've seen the WWE wrestled fighting legit already with Brock many times. The novelty is gone. Very short sighted thinking, best case scenario is Punk not surviving camp.
so your saying he has absolutely no mma background?

if that is true this is a truly stupid azz decision on dana

He's better off in Pancrase. I'll bet you that's where he ends up after this blows up in their face.

yea but mickeys bum ass was fighting overseas, CM Punk fighting with the biggest mma brand on the planet, would be like like HBO/Showtime boxing picking up those Rourke fights and showcasing it just to get views because they're not confident in their own boxing rosters..

Mickey Rourke participated in a WORKED fight. :usure:

He should really be ashamed of himself.

This is a bad look for the UFC :scust:
:stopitslime:

Lets not act like CM Punk fighting is no different than letting bar fighters from across the states compete for a contract on a reality show......CM Punk can very well be the next Forrest Griffin and become a world champion:skip:
