If you're going to the cloud i would use google play music because its free. Itunes and amazon want that bread. Only reason im keeping amazon is because i dont feel like reuploading 3700 songs again

OP :

Last year, I straight up accidentally REFORMATTED my external harddrive (Don't ask how I did this). I thought I lost everything, I was so damn depressed. Did some research, and found that my files were still in fact on the drive.

You see, your harddrive doesn't ever necessarily "delete" things....new files just get written over the old ones. As long as you haven't written anything new to the drive...your files are still on there, just kind of hidden.

I ended up using Easeus data recovery wizard. The newest version only allows for you to get like a gig of data back for free. Older versions (Or, just cracked) allow you to get all your data back. Search for "EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard Professional 5.0.1" in google, this will lead you to the complete (Although older) software that will allow you to recover all data.

I ended up recovering like 95 percent of my shyt. About 5 percent of it was buggy and I needed to re-download. Also, for some reason, some of the data ended up being in all of these strange windows folders and shyt, I had to go through some windows with a fine toothed comb to make sure I didn't miss anything. It took a little bit of time to get everything completely back to normal, but going from 0 gigs, back to a full harddrive, felt sooooo damn good.

Just remember, if you use this program, make sure you copy the files to a separate hd. I borrowed my brothers external. Remember, the files are there, but if you rewrite the drive, you will lose them. You don't want to recover the files, and than write them to the same drive you're recovering from, you would end up writing over files while you are trying to restore them and would end up losing data.

Each time shyt like this happens I lose a little part of myself man. I just lost about 18 months of music, luckily I recovered 85%, and the standouts were all backed up on css, so no issue. But, there are songs from each of these little disasters that I probably will never remember, and when I do, never be able to find. I am kinda envious of people who are much more nonchalant about their music, they'll just listen to pandora or youtube a joint, I am like ocd with the music collections.

At one point I had 200,000 songs in my itunes.... My harddrive crashed back in 2009.... I have been slowly rebuilding and I am back to about 100,000 songs right now :dead:.... This reminds me I need to buy a new external harddrive just in case this one decides to just give out for no reason :why:

200,000 songs?

Holy fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

I have like 8,000 songs and I'm pretty smug about it. You make me feel like an ant in this piracy game.

You have made me jealous, my good sir....

Edit : I bet your shyt is just as meticulously organized as my shyt too. A nicca on your level isn't about to slip up on them tags....:obama:

:russ: When it comes to organization, I'm obsessive... Album Covers, tags, everything has to be in place... At one point I had genres organized to sub-genre's of music, like Wu-Tang would be considered "90's East coast hip hop":why:

Im not that specific anymore...

lol, y'all crazy if you put that shyt in Google's cloud. No thank you.

C/S ....Only irreplaceable shyt like pics would go to the cloud for me. Not to mention the time it would take to upload it...

About 7 years ago before I got on the computer shyt heavy I had all my music ripped on my Dell.. I built a computer and didn't have a key (and didn't know about Linux or other sources) and couldn't get into Windows... Like a fool I erased my drive to reinstall.... I had the stuff backed up on DVDs but they weren't current......

Got my boy to let me copy his music drive cause we had most of the same shyt (used to trade music) and I'm still regretting it... Back when space was an issue he was ripping CDs with 32 and 56 kbps bit rates :scusthov:

Still find shyt randomly cause I didn't know till I had merged my backups with his data... I'm starting to go thru my collection but it will take weeks to get it straight cause I'm real big on proper tags and album numbers...:snoop:

I remember having 400GB of music, I was running out of space and put it on an Iomega, it crapped out 2 months later and I was :sadbron: some stuff I won't be able to get again. Plus since megaupload went down it will take twice the amount of time it took me the 1st time.

After all this shyt with Onlive...I'm surprised that more people still don't understand how fickle this cloud shyt is.

I'm trying to hold on to my media for as long as I can. If it's worth hoarding, I'ma make sure that it's mine forever.
