I'm a fan of
  • Superman - Original
  • Raimi Spiderman 1&2
  • All 3 Nolan Batmans
  • First 2 Burton Batmans
  • Ironman 1
  • Batman cartoon

You're right about not actively reading comics though. Maybe that's why I didn't enjoy the movie that much.

Raimi's Spiderman movies were ass though and kinda insult the comics.

Spiderman did'nt crack jokes (which he should because it's how he copes with being nervous), Mary Jane was a frumpy skinny broad, and Parker got unmasked in damn near every movie, thus defeating the purpose of Spiderman (and other super heroes) wearing masks to protect their identities and the ones they love.

Avengers was actually pretty much exactly like the comics character-wise...save for maybe Hawkeye and Widow.

I hated The Avengers. The dialogue was cheesy. Downey's one liners and smugness is getting tired. Joss Whedon is just a fukking cornball, period. So I wasn't expecting to enjoy any of the dialogue. I'd take Nolan's (even though he's only producing in this case) heavy handed melodramatic dialogue over Whedon's cheesy dialogue any day. Whedon scripts are very Whedon. Like Tarantino he masturbates on a page. He loves to hear himself talk. But unlike Tarantino, Whedons dialogue's only funny to people who enjoy Dane Cook jokes.

The action scenes and the CGI was forced. Kind of like getting hit over the head with a blunt object over and over again until your head is numb. By the final battle I was CGI fatigued.

Also, by the end there was shyt blowing up everywhere and I'm supposed to believe that Nighthawk could contribute anything to this fight? Get the fukk out of here. You've already asked me to suspend enough belief.

Loki was a boring villain. Plus, didn't we already see him in the equally bad Thor?

I'm expecting a lot from Superman...but if it's anything like the boring snooze fest The Avengers I WANT MY MONEY BACK!

I'm red because of an April Fool's joke that was stickied in the booth. I specifically requested that people neg me in the thread.

Why would I give a fukk about the red? :yeshrug: this is the internet Breh. It's not that serious. But I guess having the amount of posts per day that you do it might be something completely different to you.

At the end of the day it doesn't change the fact that The Avengers sucked. :jawalrus:

Nothing has changed from my original post. :pachaha:

He has the sequel to 300 coming too. But ya if superman bombed it might be a wrap for him.

The only reasons WB is trusting Snyder with its biggest franchise are 1) Watchmen 2) Nolan's confidence in him.

Every single person who resorted to neg'ging or name calling WITHOUT a decent rebuttal to what I said got added to my ignore list. You get a pass because that GIF gets me every time. :lolbron:

I bet they got him on a short leash. :ld:

The difference is Spiderman 1 and 2 was supposed to be campy. That's the tone that Raimi set for the the movies. So the cheesy dialogue fit right in. The movies didn't take themselves too seriously until the 3rd Act, when it was time to take itself seriously. And that's why it worked so well.

Where as part 3 was overly campy and that's what made it bad.

Avengers took it's cheesy dialogue way too seriously. 90% of Downey's lines and the bickering in general was cringe inducing. At some points I was embarrassed to be in the movie theater watching it all go down. fukk Whedon. Neg me all you want. It's the best anyone can do, no ones able to counter anything I said.

:what: I dont know why ppl keep saying this. Even if that were true, the recent Spiderman had this fool taking his mask off scene and he was an unlikable a$$hole. Lets also not forget how it drops a plot line 30 mins into the film. Say what you will about Raimi's cheezy herb ass Peter but Webb's Peter emo to rebel w/o a cause, skater, smart ass depending on the scene...all of unlikable. Making Parker a douchebag is like stitching Deadpool's mouth shut.:mindblown:

I'm pretty sure Spiderman revealed that in the comics recently...that he wisecracks in order to calm himself as well as infuriate his enemies.

And yes Amazing Spiderman had its faults as well....

seriously nolan really has no input in this film, its all snyder

:heh:

Well, considering he got his boy hans zimmer on board to score the film and his name aattached for most of the advertising, I'm certain he's going to give plenty of input.

u act like zimmer only works for nolan, the guy has been making movie scores for over 25 years

at some point nolan was involved but left to concentrate on the dark knight rises, his brother wrote the storyline for this new superman movie

No shi*t. But Zimmer refused to go onboard until Nolan convinced him. That alone show's you the input he has in this film. It's common knowledge Nolan isn't going to be sitting in the director's chair, but Nolan will be there for guidance.

And the early screenings already state it's a Nolan story with Snyder visuals/action. I think that's what everyone is expecting.

i'll take raimi's campy ass peter parker from 1 and 2 any day. he doled it on a little strong. but it felt like peter. why? because peter's a fukking nerd! of course it's gonna be campy, especially in his school daze before he got his swag up.

amazing spider-man was awful. shoulda titled it 'what if... bruce wayne gets bitten by a radioactive spider?' and andrew garfield, surprisingly, was shytty in the role (save for the scenes with him and one or more of the stacys).

Amazing Spider-Man sucked breh. I kept telling folks who were making it seem like it was going to come in and shyt all over the first 2 Raimi films and I was like :childplease:

That Doc Ock fight on the train is still classic, especially the extended cut:

:what:

The Avengers was the epitome of a summer blockbuster. The only time the film took itself serious was when the agent got killed. Everything else was typical popcorn movie with a few action sequences here, and one liners there. And the final battle was indeed a CGI fest. It's what we expected when you have the hulk, Iron Man, Thor, and NY being blown to fukken pieces.

And how can you take cheesy dialogue serious? It was cheesy dialogue and I'm sure Joss Whedon will admit it. It's catered to a mass audience, kids included.

Nolan's Batman films are essentially crime thrillers that involve a guy dressed as a bat. They are practically 2 different genres.
