Dudes 10 year winning streak was undeniable. Legends were scared to fight him.
^this I aint one of those cats that drinks that ufc coolaid or gets into the debate on which org was better. But lets live in reality, anderson silva's 6 year reign in the ufc surpasses fedor's decade easily.
There is a higher probability that there is greater skill/talent -210lbs than +210 thats just common sense. ppl like to point to the fact that fedor was an undersized HW like that was a hindrance, all that meant to me was he had a lower centre of gravity & his opponents were big lumbering with less skill (due to not having training partners as big) Hong man choi, semmy smchett, tim sylvia.. And what about the fights against lhw/mws like randleman, arona, sobral or lindland that were dressed up as HW fights.
What became of all those asians he beat again? thats what I thought
to be fair, anderson is fighting in a weak ass division. there's no one of real significance outside of dan henderson and vitor belfort (who i always thought was overrated anyway).
GSP has the best track record against quality opponents.. but the way silva finishes people is just
fedor has a good argument though.. you can't really clown on that
matt hughes, bj penn, sean sherk, koschek, jon fitch, jake shields, condit
>
hendo, belfort, sonnen (forgot the obvious), okami and franklin
and i aint denying that silva is in contention, if not already the all time GOAT.. and i already acknowledged his superior finishing style.
but if we're talking about competition, GSP > Silva's. not even a fukkin question.
EDIT: i'll go into detail if needed, but i really shouldn't have to
Who did Fedor beat besides big Nog that we would consider a top fighter? He feasted on Japanese cans and freak show fights.
ricardo arona, heath herring, noguiera, crocop.
noguiera and crocop especially were huge names, for good reason, back in the day. and like silva.. it's pretty much the way he won against his opponents that made him so damn impressive
looking in retrospect i can see why Fedor's resume isn't as impressive as it should be.. but to those who actually watched during Fedors era.. you would understand a little bit more. his wins against nog and crocop were incredible.. and the way he destroyed heath herring.. survived the randleman suplex, etc..
Heath Herring
CroCop turned out to be nothing but another dude who looked great when he feasted on Japanese cans. UFC exposed that dude for the fraud he was. Arona was a LHW fighting a HW.
Fedor knew what he was doing by avoiding the UFC.
