Smith don't turn it over though, dudes got 10 picks in his last 27 games, with 3 of them coming in one game vs. NYG this year.

Kaep is much more of a liability for turnovers than Alex is.

Ehh, that's a major leap of faith in my opinion. He couldn't muster much against a Rams D that the Jets just took apart.

Scrambling after you first read isn't a sustainable effort at QB. But I hope he steps up big tonight

Not really, Alex Smith plays low risk football, if he can't find a receiver he can dump it off or just audible to a run, we avg around 5-6 yards a carry. But one thing we need this week is for Vernon Davis to show up, if he doesn't have a good game as well we could lose.

Look at that AZ game, Alex was going through his progressions like a champ.

But my problem with the scrambling after the first read is

A) Liability for injury
B) Receivers don't even have the chance to make plays
C) It becomes a habit and dude limits the offense.

I`m not saying that is how it's going to be tonight, because this game he has had more time to prepare, i`m just as a QB in general. If the kid wants to become a full time starter that facet of his game needs to change.

Tonight it might actually be useful because at least he wont be putting it up in tight spaces for INT's if he does that

one thing is for sure though. tonight is a huge opportunity for kaep.

so maybe even if coaches instruct him to not take chances, he prolly will I mean, a huge game against this D, for him, would be huge. could create qb controversy and get him $ in the long run.

Say the kid throws for 250, 2 tds and a pick, that's a solid ass effort against a top flight defense, this will get noticed.

Even if we win the SB with Smith on some cray shyt, then Kaep's market value will be huge and the 49ers could deal em.

Now if we fall short with Smith again the fans will most likely be ready for the kid to get his shot, even if not appointed starter, a full blown QB competition come August.

This is a chance for Kaepernick to truly make a statement about his future as a QB in this league.
