In an ideal world, sure, but at what cost? You play those rookies and push all those other egos down the depth chart, on less minutes, and then the conflict starts - especially when the team keeps losing. Wade's already been sending shots publically to the starting unit. I'd hate to think of the disturbance he'd cause and others when the team underperformed. I do agree that young guys should get burn, but they should've been getting burn years ago.
Everything with this squad has been tackled with a quick fix (look at all the trades/signings they've done over the last three seasons), rather than trying to develop players, which is partly understandable given that they're trying to maximize LeBron's prime and can't be fukking around with player development. But at the same time, this is the hole you fall into when there's no structure to keep you above ground.
LeBron wouldn't need to exhaust all his energy on offense and do his best Harden-impression on defense if there was a proper system in place. He could be sitting pretty right now if he embraced a basketball milieu like Duncan did.
I don't think it would be that big of a hit to give all of Fryes minutes to Zizic, they had the perfect excuse to play Zizic with Tristan going out. They guys most affected by Zizic and Osman would be Frye and Korver, I understand they want shooting but it comes at such a big cost to their defense. In Frye's case he's a FA so if he's upset
and Korver already got his bag so I doubt either would really mess up the chemistry if they somehow got supplanted by the younger guys. If Thomas is coming back in Jan/Feb and Thompson/Love looking like the starting frontcourt it stands to reason that Zizic should get minutes so they can prep him to be the first big off the bench. They have to manage egos, and Bron ball doesn't work as well with this roster (Wade/Rose) but the bench unit needs younger players to start getting minutes, this is the oldest team in the league and it shows. This is exactly what sank the Heat, it's a sequel to that movie where they kept overvaluing veterans, never going after any younger players. The young guys they have aren't the typical rookies, they're guys who should be able to contribute so I can't really rock with Lue's refusal to play them, especially since they covet Osman and wont include him in trades.
