Bench press is highly weight dependent. Not too many people weigh enough to even bench 225 regularly

Also bench is not a perfect indicator of strength. It’s one way but there’s other ways of showcasing strength. Can you control your own body weight well?

But yes alot of the population just doesn’t work out

A lot of it is due to lack of form.. I could bench 225 right off the bat if I had the form somewhat down. And if you are a big dude you can press more weight.

I did home workouts with dumbbells and a pull up bar for years before I started working out at an actual gym with a bench press.

I still don’t think those numbers are accurate. Most grown men on the heavier side can bench press 225 (if they had the form).

Saying 225 is standard is speaking out of pure ignorance

225 is not a ton, BUT most people who go to gym use it for rec. a better indicator of strength are push ups, pull ups, dips, chin ups
Weighted or body weight?

I can out pull and out push most people body weight wise but I’m not pulling and pushing crazy weight (315 and up)

Benching 315 >>>>> pullings weighing 150
Nah, The only 2 types of people that are in positions where they need chest strenght to push off are offensive/defensive lineman and maybe wrestlers. If you only care about looking fit, then shoulder and back exercises are better. Bench press is just not top lift to me no matter what you're goal is
