smh @ folks saying that 3'6 mafia and ugk earlier work are trap beats. ya'll can't be fukking serious. folks are really revealing themselves in this thread.

call them out directly. I give you full discretion to use that "@" symbol with pride.

Because cats are really on here saying that 3-6,UGK, Project Pat are trap, and if you don't agree, that you're an idiot.

What would you call 3-6, UGK earlier work if not trap?

Trap music is for the car and hanging with women, i dont understand the problem. Last night had trap on and the girl was loose. I put some asap on and it kinda killed the mood. soon as I put some lean music on the vibe resumed

none of this shyt is trap, 3-6 mafia influenced crunk music, 3-6 had a midwest style always
similar to chicago type beats or bone thugs

Mo Murder sounds like a 3-6 beat, that's the type shyt they was making

The trap sound we have to day started with Young Jeezy's album

just because T.I. album was called trap muzik doesn't mean those style are beats we associate with trap music were being used

calling UGK music trap is like calling scarface music trap lol

80% of the posters in this thread appear to not even know what "trap" is. :what:

Sonically or content wise.

3-6 Mafia ain't trap for the record nor is any pre-mid-2000's Memphis rap.

3-6's sound played a major role in birthing the sub-genre...but "trap" itself is some ATL shyt performed by ATL artists...a watered down offshoot of the Memphis sound.

And them ATL nikkas used to get clowned by Memphis rappers all the time for jockin'

Stop calling 3-6 "trap" please...a term that didn't exist for about 90% of their tenure

Not that there's anything wrong with trap per-se...definitely more sonically pleasing than "boom-bap" generally speaking that is...but it ain't the correct label for 3-6's sound.

DJ Paul and Juicy J don't pay me so I'll simply point this out and if you don't get it then you don't get it.

Those drum patterns are all modern day Trap Music. Buck Music came before Crunk Music and all Crunk Music is iz Buck Music with slightly different writing technicalities. All Trap Music is iz Crunk Music with slightly different writing technicalities and soundfonts. All Drill Music is iz fukkin Trap Music

So in the end it's the same thing. And really you could take it a step back and incorporate Miami Drum & Bass into the equation but that's something else in its own right.

All of the songs I posted by Paul and J have the same melodies and rhythms and chants that Trap Music has.

Shawty Redd updated it but Lex Luger revolutionized it. And MikeWill and Cardo & Sledgren gave it new skin and new life and some Wings to go with it.

This is "Mo Murda"

This isn't

Same sample, virtually the same time frame, almost (bone being the latter). Totally different styles. You're hella ignorant thinking these two had the same styles just becuz Bone put out the "Enterprise" Record

A lot of women be listening to J. Cole and Kendrick. They even be going to their concerts. Hip Hop lost its way when dudes catered to hoes over their own taste. That is why this genre is so watered down. @The HONORABLE SKJ

Besides, you not in the club every damn night. What about real life? :ld:

The "mo murda" sample on the Juicy J track was actually sampled from this

But they were dissing Bone all over that tape...not on that track but on other tracks on the tape...this was before they dropped E.1999 eternal.

Post a trap beat that has amazing replay value. You say it's better than boom bap? There are boom bap beats that have survived 20-30-40 years of replay value.

How long has trap been the default hip hop sound? 5 years? 10 years? Somewhere between?

What are these trap classics, these phenomenal trap songs that have as much replay value as the classic boom bap shyt? They've gotta be tons of them, right? Since trap > boom bap, right?

Let's goooo!

neg if you must. bytch if you must. This is your time to defend your beloved :trash:

Make it count (Royce voice)
T.I and RubberBan Man was and is still pretty nice.

Shout out to Dave Banner.
