skip seasons 1-3. mostly :trash:

season 4 and 5 are great though, but not GOAT status whatsoever. Gus, Mike, and Hank are by far the only interesting characters.

:dwillhuh: 3 is arguably the best season

That two part finale :lawd:

And kind of off topic, but I watched Sopranos season one for the first time last year, and while dope, I'm not in any kind of rush to dive into season two just yet :ld:.

3 is the best over all season but IMO the best single eps in the series are in season 4. "Salud", "Crawlspace", "End Times" and "Face Off" I'd put up against any 4 eps of any series, ever.

Season 5 I can't really judge yet since it's only half over. So far I got those 8 eps ahead of 1 and 2 but behind 3 and 4.

On a side note about season 3....

I been rewatching the series lately and in season 3 it's crazy how hard Walt tried to do the right thing. He spent half the season not wanting to cook, saying he can't be the bad guy, trying to get his family back, etc. Even after the $3 mill deal he tells Gus "no thanks".

The first time I watched ep 4 when Jesse has the batch he cooked and Walt goes crazy talking about "this is mine, my product, you don't cut me in I cut you in!" I was like :wtf: but that's what made him get back into the game. That Grey Matter speech in season 5 was foreshadowed in that ep in season 3. He already got cheated out of his "legacy" once, he seen Jesse as Grey Matter all over again. That + his wife cheating on him he was like :manny: "fukk it, I'm a drug dealer".

brehs, i'm 9 episodes into season 3.

i was glad that walters wife cheated on him. i really root for that high strung chick. when you see what she been put through, cant be mad at her getting outside d!ck. pause.

visually its definitely on some next level ish. almost like Paul Thomas Anderson directing some of these episodes.

those killer cousins might be the scariest bad guys ever on tv. its like the show got really real when they turned up. i thought hank was a gonner there for a minute. him killing the second one with about a second to spare was definitely the highlight of the show so far.

definitely impressed with Gus' movements even if he look like urkel. but i guess thats the point. but yeah i would say artisticaly this is an impressive season, still some episodes left though.

visually its the best show ive seen. Sopranos and Mad Men come closest but still not on this level. The Wire is my favorite but that was a huge weakness in the show man, no really great expansive visual composition. (im sounding pretentious i know)

If you can't sympathize with a Chemist who missed out on a million dollar deal, married a c*nt, had a son with cerebral palsy, had to take a job as a Chemistry teacher, then, after all of that, gets cancer... There is something wrong with you. If you can't sympathize with Walter White for the first two seasons of this show, then the rest of the show won't make sense for you. I don't want to throw too many spoilers, but not liking Walter White because he doesn't have "swag" is like not liking Don Draper because he has too much.

I used to sympatize with Walt now I'm not sure where I stand with Walt but I think that's a testament to how good the writing is on the show. Here is a guy that for basically 50 years have gotten fukked left and right by life. Everything he has been through you should sympathize with him but yet a lot of people don't anymore.

:whoa: at the bolded. You trying to start a war in here?

As far as the rest of the shyt you said, by all means speak on the cinematography. You seem like a knowledgeable cat.

Ep 10 is a "love it or hate it" ep. I'm eager to hear your opinion on it. It's directed by Rian Johnson, he did "Brick" and this summer's "Looper". He has a very distinct visual style.

The last 2-3 eps of season 3 are bananas, so you're in for a treat.

And Gus is featured heavily in season 4 so if you like him you'll be :ohlawd:

the boxset i got had four seasones and i have watched the whole ish now. i'll have to catch up on season five later. but yeah, ill give my initial final thoughts.

in terms of cinematography im not an expert, kind of an amteur interest in it. just reading up on film and TV, you notice diferent directors have dfferent visual styles. and i feel the best directors, they do interesting things visually with the camera. its not just about the acting or the words that are said.

what i like about breaking bad is the outside visuals. its like the area this takes place in is as much part of the story as the actors. you get a sense pf what new mexico's terrain is like. u actaully see the desert, how hot it is. the colors they use are really powerful.

in terms of composition, these stood out for me

1) even though i made fun off it in season 2 with walter doing the hard man act while TV on the radio played, was still great visually.

2) the scenes where Walter is driving while listening to A Horse With No Name is what i would call great filmmaking.

3) when jesse takes drugs and his body floats up into the ceiling.

4) the whole gun fight hank had with the killer cousins was incredible

yeah the episode about the fly, that was the worst episode for me, i nearly skipped it half way through cause i saw it was gonna be one of those "creative" episodes. like the sopranos when Tony starts dreaming, the worst episodes.
