A year is not enough time to learn a new city or even to see if you like it or not. Did you try joining any Chicago to Dallas groups. It's probably a few Chicago heads there

I tried finding some, but it was mostly for single folks trying to date and shyt like that. not any good activity groups. and nothing really close to where I stay.

my ex co worker tells me that all the time. he's from Dallas and moved to Philly. He said he hates the Texas heat.

I hate the heat but I hate the cold twice as much. I rather deal with this 100 degree weather than to fukk with that chicago cold.

As you get older that shyt fukks your knees and hips up something bad. shyt just sits in your bones.

So I rather put up with this heat. Plus as I have gotten older I ain't got the patience for the cold. Got to put on 19 layers of clothes, shovel snow, warm your car up and etc.

The cold a bytch especially with kids.....lord it is a pain having little kids in cold areas. Cause every time you get them in and out the car you got to put their winter clothes on and off. shyt a pain man.

If I could have the chicago summers, but the texas winters in one city that would be nice (including the low cost of living in the south).

my wife tried to get mad initially saying I wasn't giving texas a fair shot, but when I came down here, I said I'd try it for a year. I did that and in the end, I didn't particularly like it.

I mean I have damn near no people to do shyt with here. and the folks that work with me have really little kids, so even they can't really hang like that.

just this past weekend in chicago, I saw my parents and in laws. I saw my sister brother in law and my neice/nephew. plus I got to kick it with three different friends each of whom I've known for like 20+ years now. shyt, I did more in those 4 days than 4 months here :aicmon:

also, I went from a 3500 sq ft house with finished basement, a big yard, deck bbq grills, and garage to a 1400 sq ft apartment :camby:

Yeah I feel you on the no family part. Cool thing with me going to college in the south (Mississippi). Damn near everyone I went to college with is either in Dallas or in Houston or in Atlanta.

So it is so many folks I went to college with out here in Dallas it is like a family reunion for me. We basically kick it twice a month. Then on top of it the folks down south (especially black folks) are so friendly ain't no thing to meet folks to hang with. Just have to go out there and mingle with folks.

Plus my wife is from Mississippi so she has a bunch of family who live out here. So its like an extended family here for me.
