Yeah that's true, I found an S7 Edge on the ground a month ago and gave it to a friend from work for $300 and he's like if it gets blacklisted or w/e you call it he'll just sent it back home to India
The problems with iPhone's is that when you buy one brand new it's activated to your Apple ID I think. So if you find it, the owner who lost it can easily get it locked/blacklisted. That's why there are so many people selling blacklisted iPhone's in Ebay
I'm sure there is a way to remove that security login but it would most likely cost some money to remove. Trying to activate a lost iPhone as just as improbable as trying to reset Samsung's Knox counter to 0 after rooting the phone...
