first season isnt great imo... doesnt get good until near the end....

seasons 3 and 4 are incredible though

It's a great show but its hard to watch from beginning of you go in expecting to be blown away. The plots/storylines are interwoven and play out over Seasons (not episodes). I could see how you can struggle through it after reading all the hype. If you can mash out 1 a day you'll start to see how good of a show it is. I really like Breaking Bad but having seen them both with no expectations I'll have to say the Wire (based on the amount of characters it fully develops) is a good bit better.
