I feel like Jonathan Majors is getting all the roles Nate Parker would have got.

I think that spot goes to Jason Mitchell. He was about to be HUGE. He was great in Straight out of Compton, The first season of the Chi, Forever and Superfly. Dude has range and his performance in Forever is so underrated.

If things kept going the way they were going for him, he would've already been the lead in a big film with heavy hitters, but now they've got him doing straight to DVD quality roles. You hate to see it.
Jason Mitchell is fat. He had the chance to get serious acting roles, but he is too fat be a superstar. He was in the Zola movie, so there is a chance he could come back. Maybe he coulda been on some Phillip Seymour Hoffman shyt?

I don’t agree with this thread about Nate Parker. He was around a decade prior and never crossed over.

Danny Glover and Sam Jackson didnt pop off until their 40s. Does that mean they werent talented when they were younger? No. Just didnt have the opportunity.
Samuel L Jackson was a drug addict who had to piece his life together.

Danny Glover had a whole career before deciding to act.

It wasn’t happening for Nate Parker.

Nate was never in the convo for next up. People had seen Nate way before 2016 and nobody was impressed. He's probably as good a actor as Michael B but Majors is a legit talent who will win awards someday. On a different level
Now that I think of it…

Michael B Jordan may have heavily benefited from Nate Parker getting blacklisted :jbhmm:

There’s really no one else in that accessible millennial modern lead black guy niche

Nate was way more talented than Michael B Jordan... stop it.

He effortlessly stole every scene in Arbitage from a vet like Richard Gere who had numerous award nominations for his role. I don't know about "having next" but he was definitely building up a level of respect based the level of talent he had/has. The media campaign against him caused the industry to cut down the consistency of roles he was getting... we don't know where he'd be had that not happened, but he was definitely more talented than than you're making him out to be.

Michael B Jordan grew into a prettyboy though, so he was always gonna get his shot as long as he stayed in Hollywood. Nate Parker is talented, but he doesn't have leading man screen presence, and not charismatic enough to be a character actor. Majors has the screen presence and talent. Now it's just a matter of how long he can maintain it.

Jason Mitchell squandered his chances at a nice long career of a supporting lead, and character actor.

Michael B Jordan's career was looking shaky for a decade before he hooked up with Coogler for Fruitvale. People are totally ignoring the January/Sundance hype for Nate in 2016 that he was garnering like he was going to be the next big thing.

Confusing timing with talent. Nate was getting ready to have his moment. The type of moments that propel your career forward.

Michael B. Jordan did Fruitvale at 25-26, which was younger than Nate Parker was in The Great Debaters (27-28). And though he wasn't a superstar, Jordan was in important shows like The Wire, Friday Night Lights and even Parenthood.

Nate had a lot of hype at Sundance for The Nat Turner film, but tbh it wasn't as good as the hype. Its not the first time Sundance hyped something up only for it to be meh. The rape trial coming back into the public eye definitely hurt his hype, but Majors is a better actor than Nate and has taken on better roles too.

If anything, King Chadwick and Anthony Mackie are who Nate Parker was competing with for roles, not Majors. And Chadwick>>Mackie>>Nate Parker.
