I feel bad for older ppl that work at low paying jobs

It depends on the situation they put themselves in. I'm 19 and work in a grocery store deli. I work with a 43 year old women who has two kids. She is one of the most ignorant people I have ever encountered. I have as much education as she does (high school) and she fails to speak proper English (not implying I do all the time). She displays laziness, takes no initiative and fails to think for herself sometimes. I do not like working with her and have no empathy for her working this dead end job supporting her children. It is sad that middle to older aged ones work these jobs to support themselves but you have to consider certain details. I do not know the whole background on this woman but I see her working here for a long time. I hope it's not the same for myself.

1. alot of these old folks are retired and supplementing their income
2. bored, so there just a greeter
3. immigrants who are smarter than you but their degree from a foreign land isnt recognized
4. lost their job, and alot of places wont hire you when you are that old
5. lost their job that they got with only a hs education so thats th ebest they can find.

my father in law is a retired teacher and he works at the auto auction just parking the cars once a week just for the fukk of it. if you saw him, you might assume he's a minimally skilled older worker. you never know why people work certain jobs.

This is what people like to do judge others. I know some retired people who made good money back in the day that work in these places.

Some people just like to work and not stay at home watching maury and those goofy corny soap operas/court shows.

Stop judging people and thinking you are better. Live your life.

Yeah its sad but you gotta wonder what terrible choices they made in life to put themselves in that position.

Or maybe he worked at a company for 15 to 20 years that downsized. A lot of companies age discriminate and won't higher experienced and educated people over 40 for fear they will command too much money. I know people with MBA's and years of experience that have been out of work for over a year.

Makes me sad when I see 50+ year olds working shyt jobs, being treated like shyt, etc. But it does remind me I gotta do EVERYTHING I can to keep my life in order. I can't image being in that position at that age w. no end in sight.
