A couple years ago I made a thread about it…
Looking back I was so naive
I moved back from Seattle to the south and the people down here are really mean as fukk. They just polite to your face and show manners and pleasantries. They’ll help you but then they’ll go talk shyt behind your back about having to help you. If you not a Christian a lot of people don’t wanna fw you fr, and a lot of women don’t wanna date you.
Since coming back I’ve heard some of the most hateful shyt just casually flow out of people’s mouths. shyt that would get you kicked out a business in Seattle and it’s deadass just normal man.
The entire person to person culture feels fake down here cause it’s more focused on manners and politeness than being real. Like showing politeness supersedes consideration and genuine care for the next person.
These people think I’m mean as fukk now when I’m just giving a straight forward answer, giving basic pleasantries (please, thank you) and going about my day. It’s like me not wanting to stand there and have a random ass 10 minute convo with some stranger makes me the weirdo especially when I’m clearly in a rush/busy doing something.
Living in NYC for a couple then moving to Seattle for a few years really changed my mind on what being kind/nice really looks like.
